Redeeming Love: A Novel | Francine Rivers
A Story of Love That Won't Let Go - No Matter What!Californias gold country, 1850. A time when men sold their souls for a bag of gold and women sold their bodies for a place to sleep.Angel expects nothing from men but betrayal. Sold into prostitution as a child, she survives by keeping her hatred alive. And what she hates most are the men who use her, leaving her empty and dead inside. Then she meets Michael Hosea, a man who seeks his Fathers heart in everything. Michael obeys Gods call to marry Angel and to love her unconditionally. Slowly, day by day, he defies Angels every bitter expectation, until despite her resistance, her frozen heart begins to thaw. But with her unexpected softening comes overwhelming feelings of unworthiness and fear. And so Angel runs. Back to the darkness, away from her husbands pursuing love, terrified of the truth she no longer can deny: Her final healing must come from the One who loves her even more than Michael doesthe One who will never let her go.A powerful retelling of the story of Gomer and Hosea, Redeeming Love is a life-changing story of Gods unconditional, redemptive, all-consuming love.Includes a six-part reading group guide!

Haha, uhm, well! 🤓 Not sure what I was thinking here but there was an Audible sale and you know how that goes. You know, this could have been a decent story if it weren‘t for the religion getting shoved in your face all the time. Starting this book, I didn‘t know the author was a “reformed” romance author. The way she talked about it in the interview made it seem she had been into porn and was now born again 😄 I wonder how filthy her books were?

Sace I read this author in my mid to late 20s and I enjoyed the books. I don't recall the religion being too heavy handed, but it's possible I just ignored it. ? Don't think I read this one. "Reformed" romance writer? WTH? 3w
BarbaraBB Yay 🙌 3w

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I absolutely fell in love with the characters of this book! I couldn't get enough of it.
Unlike other books where you absolutely hate the main character for some of the stupid decision he/she makes, the ones Angel makes are kind of understandable. You get frustrated with her but all the while your heart breaks right along with/for her.
It also breaks for Michael and the pain he goes through trying to help Angel realize her worth.

This was a great book! It was a bit lengthy and some parts seemed a bit tedious, but I loved it overall. It had some content that younger readers probably wouldn‘t be ready for. But I love the overall theme of redemption and forgiveness.

All time favorite! Its full of heartache and true love. Sarah had made me mad so many times. Ive cried too. I would put the book down and said Im done! Then, I wonder what happened next. I had a love/hate relationship with Sarah. A book that will definitely have you in your feelings. #catsoflitsy

I've never been one for Christian romance, but this one has been recommended to me a few times, so I'm giving it a try. So far (ch.4), I really like the heroine. She's a survivor, and more than a little cynical. Looking forward to seeing where her story goes.

The man in this story exemplifies the true meaning of love. My paperback version is a little beat up as you can see. The hardback edition will eventually make it to my shelves. Francine Rivers has many other good books too! ❤️

At first I wasn't impressed...to be honest for the first half of the book I wasn't impressed. I had been recommended this author by a few friends and her version of Christian romance seemed cheesy far fetched if not overly dripping with ideas of love and lessons from the Bible. But but by the end, I appreciated the character development and the relationship growth as well as the idea of finding one's vocation.

Ok, I knew this book was going to be kind of cheesy for me, and it was. I loved parts of it, rolled my eyes at parts, and felt encouraged by others. Kinda like a good hallmark movie. I enjoyed it.

Foragingfantasy @Born.A.Reader @BookishJess What I wanted more than anything at the end, was for her to bring those little girls home with her and make a family through adoption. The "miraculous" children were so predictable. Not that I don't believe in miracles, I just would have really loved that. 3y

This is my favorite book!
Content- The content is heart-wrenching and beautiful. It's touching and affects anyone who reads it. It is not your typical love story, and Rivers does an excellent job including romantic love and love from the Father in this book.
Literary style- her style is rather straightforward and not artistic or abstract, but she still has a great writing style.
Characterization- Rivers develops her characters really well

I am fairly new to Francine Rivers' books. The girls in my life group at church were gushing over Redeeming Love and told me I HAD to read it. It was ok, but not gush worthy. I know many Christian fiction books focus on redeeming flawed characters, but this was so over the top. I found myself wanting to smack a few of them upside the head and ask "Why did you do that?!"
