It was a cute book. Just as fun and goofy as the movie. The writing was a bit meh and repetitive though. But overall it's a good story. Really added to the universe and character backgrounds. I enjoyed it.

I had this on my TBR for a long time, but had to bail after just over 3 minutes. The flowery expositional language and Sally talking about her various rag doll pieces (her rag doll hands, her rag doll heart) was just a little too painful.
Thank you so much @BookwormAHN for all of the #CreepyChristmas goodies! My jaw continued to drop with every new thing I unwrapped! These books have been on my TBR/wishlist FOREVER, so I was super happy to get them! And the mug?! Absolutely amazing. Thank you so much for everything! It‘s all wonderful! And thank you @teebe for organizing!
I should really stop reading the Disney sequels to my favorite movies. This was just awful. 😞 I sped it up so much to finish it (get it off my TBR), that I only read for 2 hrs.

Ahhhhh I loved loved loved this book!! Perfect fall book, I highly recommend the audiobook version as well! 🎃🍂☕️💕🍁🧁🪦 I loved dreamy Sally finding her confidence and loved exploring all the realms, the sandman, everything! #Septemberromance ♥️ this is a good book for kids too
Im listening to this on Hoopla and I‘m loving it so much! The prose is so over the top and adorably gothic and the narration is so good, I love how she does Sally‘s voice. Great read so far for my #SeptemberRomance 🪦♥️🍂 also I love how they described Valentines Day Town it was so sickly sweet ♥️🍂

got the book and the audio version…love following along… #readinggoal #audiophile #readinglife
I adored this book. Loved the prose and tone. I also absolutely loved diving further into their world and learning more about Sally.
I wasn‘t sure if I would like this because I LOVE the original but I did like it a lot. I would love a movie. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Long Live the Pumpkin Queen by Shea Ernshaw was my first full read of 2023. The writing is pretty and unique, perfect for Sally and Halloween Town. I‘ve always loved Sally (hence the costume I handmade), and enjoyed this story that featured her as the protagonist. I want to read more stories in her point-of-view.

I really wanted to love this book. However, in my opinion it fell short. Sally‘s character was more of a damsel in distress searching for help which is very different from her character in the movie. Also, there was a ton of descriptive writing that felt the same. I did enjoy seeing the other holiday realms which is why I gave it a so-so rating instead of a pan. It was also nice to get some backstory to on Sally.
I've been waiting so long to read this book, and I'm so glad it lived up to my expectations! Sally has always been one of my favourite Tim Burton characters and Ernshaw did her justice. The atmosphere was so well written and described and the plot was intriguing, though the pacing was a little slow to begin with. I liked Sally's development. I would've loved to see more romance with Jack though. Ending is perfect and there's room got more stories!
Getting ready to start the tagged book. Does anyone know if its more Christmas or Halloween? Or can it go either way?
(In my opinion the movie is a Christmas movie. But that's not going to stop me from watching it in October. 🎄🎃)
With the completion of the tagged book, I completed my 2022 reading goal!!
I enjoyed learning about Sally, what a badass, amiright?
I've seen the movie...maybe 3 times. But from what I remember, this felt like a good continuation of the story!

Finally feeling just a little better, so I can read a few chapters at a time instead of a few pages lol. Should finish up this book today and then I'll work on some customs before work
Still sick, but determined to read even a few pages a day. I predict that it will mostly be read while waiting in the school pickup line
Finished “Long Live the Pumpkin Queen” last night. The Barnes & Noble edition is very pretty. I enjoyed the book, although I‘m still trying to determine why there was a Fourth of July tree… not really a holiday that fits with with rest since it‘s U.S. only.
Also. this is my last Bones coffee bag from their Nightmare Before Christmas collection. The packaging is gorgeous, and the grounds smell amazing. To me, the flavoring is subtle.
People who are diehard fans of the movie will probably love this book. I thought it was a fun read and I enjoyed seeing Sally have her time in spotlight. I wanted there to be a little more explanation about the worlds/doors that have been forgotten.
This would make a great family read with kids though after watching the movie.

I pretty much went into this blind. I just knew I wanted to give it a shot. I've seen it classed as YA but I would put it more adolescent. Older children reading chapter books or maybe pre-teen. It's a cute little story for kids.

This was surprisingly good! 😄💕 I'm always a bit wary when books come out based on a fandom/media/product that has already been established, but this was really enjoyable! A very cute, fun story! I was happy to return to Halloween Town! 🎃
If you loved the movie, you will absolutely love this book. It is truly Sally's moment and her time to in the spotlight....whether she likes it or not
Picked this up on a whim, as my girls and I watch The Nightmare Before Christmas every year. It was a quick read and a pretty creative continuation of the story. Probably repetitive in spots…do we really need to be reminded over and over that Sally is a rag doll? I think not! But it was enjoyable nonetheless.
#bookspinbingo
This was so, so good. I was apprehensive about it, because I love The Nightmare Before Christmas so much. But this author does, too, and she really did Sally justice. Such an imaginative story, it was everything you‘d want from a sequel. Exploration of the other doors, a new villain, Sally married to Jack. To add to its legitimacy, Disney and Tim Burton gave it their blessing! My only complaint is some repetitiveness in wording/sentiment.
It was ok. I honestly didn't expect too much from this book. I wanted to give up on it, but I am not that type of person. It did have a good little turn. I won't be purchasing it or probably wont read it again.
It‘s spooky season! What are you reading? 👻👻👻

I have been a fan of nightmare before Christmas since I was in the 6th grade. I am so excited to read the "sequel" to the movie. ❤️
4 ⭐ Sally and Jack have married. They honeymooned in Valentine town, and now it is time to get back to work. Sally is having a hard time trying to find her way as queen. She does not know what it means to be queen, she just knows, she is overwhelmed. She runs away to find some peace for a small bit of time, thinking to maybe find some and ask for advice. But at the glen of doors, she cannot bring herself to go through any.
While I love horror books, I am a big wimp when it comes to scary movies 😬 and pretty much the only recurrent Halloween-esque movie I watch is The nightmare Before Christmas! For this year‘s #scarathlon, I promise to try and keep one eye cracked for the #teamslaughter buddy watches of Scream. I can try! @Clwojick
Early bird posts complete!
Looks like this will instead be my Valentine's Day read 😭 I wish they had a print version.
Does anyone ever have the issue where they put a bunch of books on hold but do so on a timeline so that you will be able to read them one after another but then suddenly they all become available at the same time? No? Just me? Okay.
My husband told me to stop putting so many books on hold, as if that will solve all my problems.
HAPPY SEPTEMBER, LITSY FAMILY!!! ❤️🧡💛🍁🍂
I know this may seem a bit premature to some, but in my mind, this day marks the beginning of spooky season! 🎃🎃🎃 Here is my tentative stack of books I'm hoping to read during the next two months! I have a few others, including Dracula and a couple library books, that are going on this list as well! I'M SO SO EXCITED!!! 💕📚
Some of my recent reads from the library. Really loved the graphic novel Zatanna The Jewel of Gravesend as well as All Our Hidden Gifts and Long Live the Pumpkin Queen. Almost done reading This Coven Won‘t Break but I‘m not enjoying it as much as I did with These Witches Don‘t Burn. Looking forward to reading Witch Queens, Voodoo Spirits and Hoodoo Saints next! 🧙🏼♀️ 🔮 🎃
This was a major disappointment. It read like bad fan fiction. The author had no clear plot, so she just repeated the same things over and over. I lost track of how many times a variation of "Sally was a rag doll" was used. The ending was wrapped up in a convenient bow in like 10 pages and they lived happily ever after.
These two lovelies arrived today and I couldn't be more excited! 💕📚🎉 I really really want to wait until September to read the tagged book, but we'll just have to see if I can wait that long! 😂🎃
