All the stars for this one! Usually in a first person narrative you just have to guess how the guy is feeling and I'm just as surprised as the MC when he secretly loved her the whole time. Not in this book! The chemistry, the tension, the characterization, all spot on. So glad I decided to read this before the movie comes out!

Lady.Literary I loved this book! 6y
SEWhite @Lady.Literary I have yet to find even one person who didn't love it! 😂 6y
Maria514626 Oh my goodness! I was thinking this would make a great movie. Cannot wait! 6y

After hearing about how amazing The Long Walk is, I finally picked this up. Not disappointed! It's a story that will stay with me the rest of my life. The other three stories were well worth buying the book. As always, King is the master of the short story format.

Gather the Daughters | Jennie Melamed

Pickpick

This book is seriously disturbing. I rated it "pick" but I have to warn you it's extremely triggering. It deals with rape culture, and a cult mentality so deeply ingrained that members go insane before questioning it. The girls oppressed by this dystopian world are brave. They're so real that you can't help wishing they'll be saved, but saving isn't really what the book is about. It will make you think, make you angry, and super uncomfortable.

MAGNETIC REVERIE | NICO J.GENES

I was luck enough recently to score copies of Magnetic Reverie and its sequel, Reverie Girl by indie author Nico J Genes. I admire her unique story and the in-depth look at what true love could be. The plot dragged just a little with lots of introspection, but overall it kept me reading. If you like more philosophy with your romance I say give these a look!

Just adorable, with sassy, sarcastic dialogue and witty characters. It also has a surprisingly dark subplot, and painful twists. As an introduction to Rainbow Rowell it was fantastic. She really knows how to draw you into an angsty, antsy first love story. I'll be looking up more of her books!

I fell down the expository Sci Fi rabbit hole, and I regret nothing. This book was excellent. Full of tension, twists, and sassy main characters that I genuinely rooted for. Super recommended if you like Sci Fi!

Bayou Moon | Ilona Andrews

Mehso-so

My first Ilona Andrews book. I liked; the sassy, competent heroine, the super literal hero, the world building, and the secondary characters. I didn't like: By the end of the book I was mentally begging for the MCs to catch a break. Betrayal after ambush after fight after betrayal. Like, dude. Also, lots of sexual tension, almost zero sex. I'll give Ilona Andrews another chance but I'll get them from the library.

Just finished all three of the Blood Brothers series by Nora Roberts. They were a surprise. The couples were strong, for sure, and the romance was present. But the main plot was all about killing an ancient demon. It really had me until the last book, and then the demon got a little tiresome. He/it was still threatening, I just kind of lost the urgency. Anyway, well done series. Not my fave Roberts series of all time, just an entertaining read.

TheBookgeekFrau I just love your photos! I admire the time you take to set up your shots -hat‘s off to ya 🎩 7y
SEWhite @C.Perone haha thank you, but I steal them from my instagram feed. So I'm only setting up once, but getting two pretty pictures out of it. 7y
TheBookgeekFrau Ain‘t no shame to that lol - one really good set up is all that‘s needed 😊 7y

How to Be a Woman | Caitlin Moran

Pickpick

Hilarious, as advertised. I was crying laughing at some points. It also has a crystal clear message. The feminism is strong in this one. Be prepared for rampant cussing, honesty, and a whole section devoted to pubic hair. If you get squeamish about body functions, this is not the book for you. I particularly enjoyed her take on childbirth.

I'm probably doing this wrong by making it a blurb, but I'm going to use my newbie card to get out of it! Hi Litsy!

Answers. 1) Nevada, USA 2) Romance & Fantasy. If it's a fantasy with a strong romance, I'm sold! 3) Tempests & Slaughter, Tamora Pierce. 4) Me encanta la comida Mexicana. 5) Our black cat might admit, if pressed, that he owns us. 6) yes! Any other romance authors here?

Savor the Moment | Nora Roberts

Pickpick

Really well done friends to lovers plot. The Bride Quartet is one of my Nora favorites, so I was already expecting a lot, and she delivered. Laurel is so tough, feisty, snappy, and seriously skilled in her profession. Del, as the love interest, is more balanced, controlled. He feels like a real person, and I loved reading as he falls for Laurel. Recommended for contemporary fans, who love reading about baking.

A earlier collection short stories by King, and all worth it. Some more gory, some tense, a few just plain storytelling. I really enjoy King's earlier stuff and this is no exception.
