This super cute RF picture book written and illustrated by Molly Bang is just one of many! There is tons of books to check out in this series if you love this one! Proud winner of a Caldecott Medal, this children‘s picture book tells the story of how Sophie gets her feelings hurt. What will Sophie do? Will she cry? Will she scream? Or will she do just the opposite? Read more to find out! #ucflae2414su20

ashleyshugars This book would be perfect as a RA! There are tons of ways to make this book really come alive by the way you read it! Check out these classroom RA questions: https://www.scholastic.com/teachers/lesson-plans/17-18/when-sophie-gets-angry--r.... UDL strategy 3.2 and ESOL STRATEGY 18 used in the right way would be perfect for this RA! 4y
DrSpalding Nicole often times mentioned social emotional learning. This book would be an excellent book to help teach students about managing their emotions. Read aloud and the read aloud questions you found work nicely. Be sure to explain your universal design and English learner strategies a bit more. 4y

This AMAZING P book written by Jack Prelutsky is FULL of poetry for elementary aged children! Filled with exciting, witty, and humorous poetry, once you read one poem, you‘ll want more and more! #ucflae3414su20

ashleyshugars This Poetry book would be perfect as a RA. Incorporating and elaborating on 1-2 poems a day can be very beneficial for children! Check out these super awesome scholastic resources: https://www.scholastic.com/teachers/lesson-plans/teaching-content/its-raining-pi.... This would be best with UDL strategy 3.3 and ESOL strategy 14! 4y
DrSpalding I own this anthology. Poetry can work nicely as a read aloud but you can also perform choral poetry readings, echo reading etc. Scholastic is a high-quality resource. Expand on the universal design and English learner strategies. I won‘t continue to say that but know I am thinking it if you don‘t explicitly align them to your teaching strategies. 4y

The best UDL strategy for this would be 2.4 and ESOL strategy 24! 4y

LauraLeighn THis is such a great book and so easy to make into a meaningful lesson. I loved the resource you found, it will defiantly come in handy if I ever use this book in my class 4y
DrSpalding Readers theater could work nicely. I have also seen this performed as a storytelling. One of the readers theater/English learner strategies that align nicely is providing short readings for homework. Sending home the scripts for them to practice is a valuable and authentic reason to read at home. 4y

Check out the resource for vocabulary below! https://quizlet.com/7479414/owl-moon-vocabulary-flash-cards/ 4y
bsiqueira This book sounds so adorable. I love to read and tell stories about family bonds. I like that you mentioned how the vocabulary is and that it is not too advanced! 4y
DrSpalding At this point this book is probably considered historical fiction. It could be a good independent read but it could also be part of your science curriculum when and if you teach students about owls. You have provided a bit more information about the universal design and English learner strategies but the verbiage is not present. 4y

This will help them to better understand the story. And it‘s also nice to switch it up every now and then by having the students perform the story instead of listening to you read. 4y
