Just finished Brief Answers to the Big Questions. Amazing book. Feels like a conversation with the late Stephen Hawking. Makes you think about the bug questions and also gives a glimpse in the future space exploration technologies. Must read.

4 hours in, listening to Dracula on Librivox. The beginning was interesting, but lots of things going on now. It's such a long book. Hope to finish it.

A collection of real life stories, makes you emotional, makes you laugh, inspires you. A great short non-fic.

Keeps you on the edge. Quite difficult to solve the mystery until it is revealed in the end.

It can be a so-so if you read it like just another book. But to really appreciate it, you need to understand that the narrator is no ordinary kid but a young teenager with Asperger's syndrome. The way he feels and thinks is from a totally different perspective.

A fascinating political satire. No matter how noble the intentions of a revolution are, the people who end up as leaders or in power continue to subdue the common folks, truth gets twisted, noble intentions and principles get trampled upon. Those who mean to do the right things are portrayed as traitors by those who are greedy of power. It's an amazing story. A must read for everyone.

You can read it as a story or read it as a metaphorical book. Each chapter is a new perspective on life. The first part is about doing what you want to do instead of following the crowd. The second part is about shattering our limiting beliefs and transcending them. The third part is about sharing your lessons with others and uplifting them as well. The fourth part is a satire on present day religious practices. Overall a short fascinating story.

A nice young adult fiction teaching the lesson of kindness.

I was hooked on this book. As a trans guy, it feels good to see any good representation anywhere, and this author pretty much nailed it. It was a very personal experience while reading it. But the cherry on top of it all is the main character's love for music and his radio show.
Tip: Read it before bedtime and when Gabe does his radio show, actually play that song on YouTube or wherever you prefer and continue the book like this.

It's in simple language and all, but reading this as an adult you might think about its influence on kids. However, I liked it as I was just trying to catch up with the writers I missed during my childhood.

What an epic novel! Loved it. The fiction, the story telling, the psychology, philosophy, character development all is brilliant. I was scared to read it because of its length but now at the end, am in love with it. This was my first book by Dostoyevsky, I plan on reading more in the future.

Recently started Ruskin Bond's Love Among the Bookshelves, 2 chapters in. It's quite unlike other books of his.
Need some rest for now. Probably gonna sleep.

I am an agnostic but the way Tolstoy shows the futility of War by reference to the most important teaching of all religions that one should not take another human life and treat others the way one wants to be treated is utmost rational and sensible. He invites everyone to think of their own purpose in life and that purpose can certainly not be to go to a mindless war and get blood on their hands. Really liked it for its sensible teaching.

Another book finished. A really impressive book which brings you up to date with history of Homo Sapiens, with interesting information sprinkled in every couple of pages. The ending is worth contemplating about. I took a long time to read this one almost 6 months. Can be re-read again.

I hope to finish at least the Karamazov Brothers, which I picked up in the middle as I had already been reading it for a couple of months. It would be great if I could finish 2 more of these.
I have got some e-books and audio books lined up too :)

This last chapter of Sapiens talking about all the innovations going on in genetic engineering, resurrecting mammoths and Neanderthals and the possibility of a cyborg future entirely different from what we can even try to imagine has got me thinking and looking up the resources as well.

I haven't been keeping a stopwatch yet but gonna start that now as many others are using it to track their hours.

Being a poet myself, I understand that poems are really personal and can be a prized possession for the poet. There were some poems and metaphors that really moved me. However the collection of poems on the whole was just okay.
