I finished reading #Seafire by #NatalieParker yesterday! I realized that this was the very first pirate book I have ever read and I am so happy that it features all-female pirates! But more than that, it's a book about survival, loyalty and true friendship. My full review here ➡️ http://kath-reads.com/2018/09/book-review-international-blog-tour-seafire-by-nat...

Huge thanks to @prhinternational for my free arc. #partner
Starting this one today for #NEWTsReadathon2018 😊 [Subject: Care of Magical Creatures / A: Animal on the cover]
• What I Enjoyed
- Unreliable and disturbing 18-year old narrator plus fascinating cast of characters including a cat.
- Brilliant writing with a perfect mix of dark humour and eerie atmosphere.
- this is more of a gothic mystery than horror.
• What I Didn't Like
- a bit slow and anticlimactic
Final Verdict: I still recommend it if you love reading about haunted houses with unreliable/crazy protagonist.
My Rating: 4/5 stars

I honestly don't know what to say or how to describe my feelings about this book. 😅 It is beautifuly disturbing. Is that even possible? Well, yes! You might end up lost after reading this book (which what I am right now) but I don't feel any regrets. Instead, I am happy that I have read this book. This is a very thought-provoking read and Han Kang's writing is undeniably brilliant.
My Rating : 4 out of 5 💫
I wasn't expecting that I'll end up loving this book! Fast-paced and very gripping. Forever shipping Elias and Helene. 💕 Can't wait to read the second book.
My Rating : 4 out of 5 💫
I finished this book few days ago and I really loved it. The writing is superb! Simple yet very effective and convincing. The narration/changes of POVs was perfectly done as well. The author beautifully handled some important topics in the story such as racism, abortion, and adoption. The ending felt a little convenient in my opinion but overall, this was a brilliant and very thought-provoking read.
My Actual Rating : 4.5 out of 5 💫
Huge thanks to PRH International for sending me this copy.

My very first comic/graphic novel read this year. I randomly picked the German edition (Anyas Geist) in the library and read it in one sitting. The story is simple yet very entertaining with a right mix of eeriness. I love the illustrations especially the violet palette. Overall, this was a fun and one of the great coming of age stories I have read.
My Rating : 4 out of 5 stars
My very first read this year. I enjoyed this poetry collection. It was divides into eight parts and I thought the astronomical theme was brilliant. My only problem was some words and messages were used repetitively and it somehow loses the poem's meaning as well as the connection to the reader. Overall, Nikita Gill's writing is beautiful and her poems are heartfelt and inspiring.
My Rating : 3.5 out of 5 stars
WHAT A RIDE! I tried and gave up on guessing who the real culprit was but i turned out that I was right after all. There were quite a lot of characters which was confusing for me and I wished the French words/dialogues had English translations because I only know "Merci" and "Oui". Overall, the story was clever and enjoyable to read.
My Rating : 4 out of 5 stars
A ollection of short stories/poems written by established and new BAME writers. The main theme of this book is “change” and the authors did an incredible job interpreting it in their most unique and effective ways of story-telling.

The story is set in Baines Creek, a small remote town in Appalachian mountains, North Carolina during the 70‘s. The people in this isolated town are facing huge social problems such as lack of education, poverty, and domestic violence.

I was so close to not finishing this book after 6 chapters because almost all of the characters are so self-involved and just plain annoying. But there‘s something about the Birch family that kept me reading. In fact, I was rooting for them towards the end.

I honestly feel sad that I didn't end up loving this book. It felt that I didn't get the closure I want. There are some important questions left unanswered and some things didn't make sense to me. I love the writing though.
My Rating : 3/5 ⭐

I ABSOLUTELY ENJOYED THIS BOOK! It's been a long time since a book scared the hell out of me.
If you're looking for some creepy/scary reads for the coming Halloween, then I highly recommend this book. It has evil dolls, ouija, haunted house on top of a cliff, spirits, and a lot more.
The prequel, "Charlotte Says", will be out tomorrow (Sept 7) so don't forget to add it on your tbr list as well.
Read a book with a person on the cover. Currently reading Everything Leads To You by Nina LaCour for #booktubeathon2017.

This is a great book. Not as dark as Find Her (my first book from the author) but I enjoyed it especially the police/detective works by Quincy, Rainie and the team. I love the characters in this book and the story will surely remain with me for quite a long time. It's emotional, beautiful and captivating.
Happy Book Release Day! I really enjoyed reading UNSUB. It's one of those thriller books that will stay with me for a very long time. Until now, I'm getting goosebumps when I remember the horrendous things in the story. Check out my full review on my blog : http://kath-reads.com/2017/06/book-review-unsub-by-meg-gardiner/
I really really wanted to love this book but sadly, I didn't. The theme was very intriguing but the writing style didn't work out for me. It took me so long to finish reading this book eventhough it only has 160 pages. I didn't connect with the characters at all. I loved the ending though. Maybe I read it at the wrong time? I don't know.
Have you read this book? Did you like it?

"Sometimes, you do things and you do them not because you're thinking but because you're feeling. Because you're feeling too much. And you can't always control the things you do when you're feeling too much."
One of my favorite reads in 2015. ?
The idea of Caraval is very interesting and I like the unreliability throughout the story. However, I didn't connect with the characters and most of them annoyed me. The "love" of Scarlet for Tella (and viceversa) is questionable. I wasn't expecting for any romance in the story and I'd love it more like that. The writing style is okay but I didn't feel any magic. I was disappointed and I don't think I'll continue the series once the sequel is out.
"Life doesn't have to be so planned. Just roll with it and let it happen."
This was a very fun and quick read and I wish there were more! I loved the illustrations and Professor Dumbledore‘s commentary at the end of each tales. Most of the tales in this compilation are a bit scary but so as the Muggles fairytales, right? My favorites are The Fountain of Fair Fortune and of course, The Tale of the Three Brothers. I can honestly hear myself reading these tales to my future kids.
The beginning got me so hooked but I got bored after Joe moves to LA. It is still beautifully written (no doubt about that) but in my opinion, it wasn‘t thrilling like how I was expecting it to be. The surprise factor was somehow not there. Full review : http://kath-reads.com/2017/05/audiobook-review-hidden-boddies/ #HiddenBodies #CarolineKepnes
"if you were born with the weakness to fall you were born with the strength to rise." // Have a great week ahead! ❤️
Highly recommended! This is an inspiring and very powerful book that Everyone should read. Actual rating : 4.5 out 5 stars
I am not sure if I can manage to write a full review of this book anytime soon. It's so amazing. (ACOMAF still remains my favorite though). I had mini heart attacks especially towards the end and even shed some tears too. I want more of Cassian and Nesta and also Lucien and Azriel (please)! Rating : 4/5 stars
I enjoyed this book. I love the modern geeky Cinderella retelling. I love the humors, fandoms and the characters. I laughed, ngot upset and shed some tears. If you want a quick, full of geekiness and adorable YA contemporary read then i think you'll enjoy this. My Rating : 4/5

4.5 / 5 - From Sand and Ash is a very inspiring and powerful read. A story of love, faith and goodness in mankind. This is definitely a must-read. Full review : http://kath-reads.com/2017/03/book-review-from-sand-and-ash/
2.5 / 5 - This was an easy and fast read. I enjoyed some parts but most of them felt flat. I didn't like the "romance" and the ending. I did like the theme of the book though.
This is an easy FIVE OUT FIVE STARS for me! I love this book soooooo much. It's my first Harmon book and definitely not my last. ❤️
