Plea | Steve Cavanagh
"CRIMINALLY ENTERTAINING."--PUBLISHERS WEEKLY (STARRED REVIEW) "The Plea is one of the most purely entertaining books you'll read this year. It's a blast." --John Connolly, bestselling author of the Charlie Parker novels"Rip-roaring legal thriller...Twisty, bloody, and convincing." --Ian Rankin Eddie Flynn earned his law degree in the school of hard knocks. Now this con-artist-turned-criminal defense attorney is about to take on his toughest case yet.Billionaire David Child swears he didn't murder his girlfriend, Clara--even if the evidence suggests otherwise. Home security video showed no intrusion. The murder weapon was in David's own car. He seems guilty as charged. So why won't he plead guilty? Meanwhile, the FBI needs David's help in taking down a huge money laundering scheme. Now it's up to David's lawyer, Eddie, to get him to take a plea bargain. Otherwise the FBI will use incriminating files on Eddie's wife to send her to jail. Still, David insists that he didn't murder anyone. . . As the FBI pressures Eddie to secure the guilty plea, Eddie becomes increasingly convinced that David is telling the truth. With adversaries threatening, Eddie has to find a way to prove David's innocence and find out if there's any way he might have been framed. But the stakes are high: Eddie's wife is in danger. And not just from the FBI..."If you're a fan of John Grisham...you will be a fan of Steve Cavanagh." --Nelson DeMille, #1 New York Times bestselling author

Another great book in the series. I finished in one day. They are that good. This one had me on the edge of my seat, wondering if David Child was really innocent. It looked like he was and then things happened to make it look like he wasn‘t. All the while, Eddie is trying to do his best to make sure his wife is not taken into custody due to an innocent mistake. I highly recommend this series. #SeriesLove2024 @Andrew65 @TheSpineView

“When David Child, a major client of a corrupt New York law firm, is arrested for murder, the FBI ask con artist-turned-lawyer Eddie Flynn to persuade him to testify against the firm. Eddie is not someone who is easily coerced, but when the FBI reveal that they have incriminating files on his wife, he knows he has no choice. But Eddie is convinced the man is innocent, despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary.”

My fourth choice for #12Booksof2023 is this fast-paced court-room thriller, number 2 in the Eddie Flynn series.

#AprilWrapUp

2 full Eddie Flynn novels and a short novella - all ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

My IRL book club choice, Old God‘s Time ⭐️

Ben Carpenter‘s Everything Fat Loss ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Also still ploughing my way through Ulysses (which is dire), Mason & Dixon (bizarre but enjoyable) and Clarissa (slow-moving but nail-biting too)

I struggled to get into this one a bit, but eventually settled into the rhythm of the story. Not my favourite book by this author but enjoyable. A good ending but some annoying over use of 'algo' throughout. I'll stick with Eddie Flynn, great character

I really enjoyed both “Thirteen” and “Twisted” by this author, but this one just didn‘t grab my attention. The plot seemed convoluted and the characters, even though they appeared in the other books and I liked them, didn‘t compel me. ⭐️⭐️

I am posting one book per day from my extensive to-be-read collection. No description and providing no reason for wanting to read it, I just do. Some will be old, some will be new. Don‘t judge me - I have a lot of books. Join the fun if you want.

Steve Cavanagh knocks it out of the park every single time! Eddie Flynn brings such an entertaining dynamic (former conman turned lawyer) and there's a perfect amount of outlandish (but somehow plausible?) plot twists. I think part of why it feels so authentic, even when it's far fetched, is because Cavanagh is also a practicing lawyer IRL.

Who knew I'd be so obsessed with legal thrillers? Stayed up way past Moxie's bedtime to finish 😂

HOTPock3tt Moxie looks down for the count! 😍😂❤️ 4y
swishandflick @HOTPock3tt Haha, she definitely was! Though I did get a few side eyes that screamed "why are the lights still on?" ? 4y

I swung by the library this morning to pick up my first physical library hold in a year! 😱

This one wasn't available electronically but I *really* wanted it (bad enough to walk to a location further from my house when it was 17 degrees outside 🥶)

I won this book on Goodreads. I would have been done with it yesterday, but I am sick. If you like legal thrillers, this book is for you. It is fast paced. Eddie is a lawyer that is know for the hustle. His wife, Christine, is a lawyer that's in trouble with the FBI. His client, David Childs, is up for a murder he didn't commit. FBI wants someone to take a plea. Will anyone? And if so, who? Go get this book and read it. Happy Reading.

Here are two really good crime novels I've read in the last 2 wks but the luca Veste wasn't coming up on the search. Both writers present a wonderful podcast on crime writing and ive found loads of new writers as a result. One is a Liverpool police procedural, and the other a new york based legal thriller

MrBook Cavanagh's good. 👍🏻👍🏻 7y

An excellent legal thriller. Fast-paced (= unputdownable, kids late to school) and intelligent with great characters. Eddie Flynn as the street-smart lawyer is wonderfully dishevelled and endearing with quirky allies; the murder suspects sympathetic and sinister by turn. The courtroom scenes (while dramatised) ring true & are totally absorbing. Highly recommended.

Cinfhen Nice review! I liked "kids late for school" that's the best endorsement for a book ? 8y
Abailliekaras @Cinfhen ha ha! There was a lot of 'mummy, you haven't even made our lunches yet!' 😬 8y
