pickUnpopular opinion… I didn‘t love this book as much as everyone else did… I found myself really enjoying parts of it and then finding other parts absolutely ridiculous and for that reason it is a soft pick for me! I will be interested to see what my book club ladies think of it!
pick4.5/5 - almost too many twists and turns…to the point of slight confusion. but that is probably a “me” problem. very good writing, great mysteries and well developed characters.

pickWow! I understand all the buzz about this book. Beautifully written, this dark, twisty thriller had me riveted. I was so invested in these relationships, I loved the art and true crime elements, and the characters were just so real. There were upsetting elements so you may want to check content warnings. The audio narration is great, I highly recommend this powerful novel!

pickThis is one of those hooks that will left you broken and questioning life and you will recommend to others so they to can feel the pain. Loved Saint and she deserved so much more. I loved the different characters and the passing of time.
pickThis book just about killed me. I didn‘t feel until the end just how deeply its roots have embedded themselves in my mind and my heart. Two lifelong friends spending a lifetime each, searching for a voice from the darkness. More than that, it‘s a search for a serial killer. But each of those descriptions does not do this epic novel justice. Yes it‘s long, but it is so worth the investment. Did I cry at the end? You know I did. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This was a book I wouldn‘t have picked up had it not been my bookclub‘s next read. I even told my husband a few pages into it, “this is just really weird” 😂. I did end up liking it though, I thought the characters were fully formed and felt ‘real‘ and Whittaker‘s writing flows really nicely. So many good quotes too! I can‘t wait for our next meeting to discuss this!

The book follows Patch and his best friend Saint through the following 25 years as the impact of that event ripples through their lives. It really is best to come to the story blind. Whitaker crafts a mesmerizing, slowly unraveling tale, full of complex characters so compelling that I just had to keep reading. Absolutely fantastic book.
pickThis book did not disappoint. A decades long epic and heartbreaking crime thriller. And I ‘bleeping‘ love Charlotte she is exactly what I wanted her to be.
I‘m going to do #BookBracket2025 for some fun this year. January‘s pick is All the Colors of the Dark. It was interesting and thoughtful.
pickThis book could‘ve been a little bit shorter, but overall, it‘s a good book. It‘s dark but hope shines through at the end. Whitaker deals with the theme of how what happens to someone in the past can impact not only them but those around them far into the future.
My leg hates me — same leg as my knee but this time it‘s my thigh. No idea what I did, but it‘s too painful to walk on or stand very long at all. So here‘s my reads for #weekendreads. I‘ll probably only finish The Serviceberry since it‘s short. Maybe All the Colors of the Dark. The others are: How the White Trash Zombie Got Her Groove Back, The Cloister Walk, and Mina‘s Matchbox.
The temperature got up in the 40s today; I walked with my jacket open for a good portion of my walk. That‘s a Mardi Gras snowman in the pic. 😊 While I like this book, I can‘t figure out why I still have over 4 hours left. What‘s left to tell that would take that long? #audiowalk
Boy, was it a bit chilly this morning! When I went to walk, it was technically 40°, which I can do with a light jacket; however, the “feels like” temp was 29°, so I had to layer a bit AND wear a jacket and a hat. The characters in this book are just making me so sad for them all. #audiowalk
I‘m enjoying this book, but I sometimes get a little lost for a minute with the jumps in time. We are supposed to get a lot of rain tomorrow and then snow, so I‘m trying to get in my #audiowalk while I can!
I see why this book had so much buzz and hit a lot of favorites list in 2024. If you pick it up and think it‘s too long for me (almost 600 pages) just know that it‘s a fast read with short chapters and worth every.single.page. It‘s a mystery, but so much more. It‘s really about friendship that turns into family and what you will do to help someone you love.
