I was really excited to read this book, and I LIKED it, but I had some issues with it. The premise of this book was a lot of the draw for me. I found the main characters, Max & Jillian, to be a realistic kind of flawed. High school & family drama played a large part in the evolution of their relationship, but I found myself wanting more of Max & Jillian as 'Max & Jillian.'
3.5 stars - still recommend!

I was able to read an e-ARC of this book via Netgalley thanks to the publisher, and I really enjoyed it! It was a great summer (quick) read, although I was weirded out a bit by repeated references to the main character's "urges." ? I was able to relate to this book, though, because I used to be in the same world of competitive swimming.
Overall, I am glad I read a Miranda Kenneally book, finally!

Happy book birthday to The Dream Keeper's Daughter 🎉
How beautiful is this cover!?! 😍
Have you taken any literary-inspired trips? I'm not necessarily talking about the Wizarding World of HP in Florida (although, I do want to go there, too) ...but, have you planned trips to, say, a favorite author's birthplace or the setting of a book you love?
Ever since I was young, I have wanted to go to Switzerland for no other reason than I loved Heidi 💕
"Everything's a risk. Not doing anything is a risk. It's up to you." - Everything, Everything; Nicola Yoon
Yup, still on the ginornous TBR (and my to-watch movie list). This cover is so pretty, though ???
This is a book that deserves more love & attention from a young author! The premise of the book had my attention from the go, as did K.M.'s colloquial writing style. The characters were lovable & relatable, although Joey made me simultaneously adore him & want to hit him across the head 🙈 I definitely recommend this book; support this young writer & check it out.

I wanted to know some honest opinions...
I've heard people speak really highly of this book then others say it read very juvenile. If you've read it, what did you think? I love YA, but I'm 32, so books that lean more middle grade aren't usually my thing. Give me some spoiler-free thoughts!

Where they are just and loyal,
Those patient Hufflepuffs are true,
And unafraid of toil." - Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, J.K. Rowling
Where are my fellow Hufflepuffs??!! ?? Which HP House are you in?

Love & Gelato was a quick, easy read; perfect for summertime! I liked this book so much! I would recommend it to anyone who likes young love, stories of love & loss, or those who want a refreshing read. I loved the author's conversational writing style; it made me want to be friends with Lina. My qualm: a brief, overstuffed timeline (makes it much less realistic).

The majority of these books, I realize, I ran out and bought IMMEDIATLY when they released, and I have read precisely ZERO of them to-date 🙈 ughhh I am so bad about that, which explains why I have SO many unread books on my shelves 😞 #booknerdproblems #tbr
"You could rattle the stars," she whispered. "You could do anything, if only you dared. And deep down, you know it, too. That‘s what scares you most." - Throne of Glass, Sarah J. Maas
This is absolutely one of my favorite book quotes ? I adore this series!

For a short book, it took me forever to read! The Alice elements & that of other popular tales (i.e. Peter Pan & Little Red Riding Hood) were great, but I often felt the story lagging & leaving gaps/unanswered questions. It IS a series, but I'm uncompelled to continue to read the adventure. The author is young, & there were some high points, but it just wasn't my cup of tea (no pun intended).

Happy Friday, book buddies ? Today is just screaming "rainy, reading day!" BUT, instead, I am at my office...working ?
Today is also screaming "give me ALL THE COFFEE" It is seriously dragging ☕
A sweet friend I met through Bookstagram made this embroidery for me, and I adore it ? This suits me to a T! Find A Sweet Stitch Shop on Etsy ?

I have to send a little love to one of my favorite YA series (and my book boyfriend, Elias ?)

We picked up where The Raven Boys left off; continuing the mission to uncover the mysteries of Glendower, but this installment primarily focuses on the story of Ronan Lynch. I started off reading this book slowly because, to be frank, I wasn't the biggest Ronan fan. I learned to love him by the end, though. Maggie captivates her audience & I enjoyed every mystically weird moment!

One of my favorite things that I've read recently, was the dedication in this book:
"To the girl
who reads by flashlight
who sees dragons in the clouds
who feels most alive in worlds that never were
who knows magic is real
who dreams
This is for you."
For those that actually read it, Meagan probably connected with so many readers before her story even began ?

"Maybe you can afford to wait. Maybe for you there's a tomorrow. Maybe for you there's one thousand tomorrows, or three thousand, or ten, so much time you can bathe in it, roll around it, let it slide like coins through you fingers. So much time you can waste it.
But for some of us there's only today. And the truth is, you never really know." - Before I Fall, Lauren Oliver
Remember...it‘s only a game! But, Stephanie Garber created such an interesting story that I found myself wondering if it truly was only a game. When you go through something as cutting as Scarlett & Tella had with their father, and you dream for so long of a grandiose fantasy that you think only a mastermind can grant you, it seems easy to get caught up in the performance of Caraval. I fell for the game & am left wanting in all the right ways ❤
SJM has an immense talent for character development & world building. We were introduced to Prythian & those that inhabit it in ACOTAR, but I couldn't have hoped for a more full immersion in that world than what I received in ACOMAF. It was completely magical. I didn't expect my feelings towards characters to shift so drastically from one book to the next, but SJM's writing led me to fully feel as Feyre was. This book was powerful & satisfying!
I'm from Morgantown, WV, and today is West Virginia Day 🏞 It's basically a day to celebrate the state's birthday 🎉
I identify gold and blue with West Virginia because I moved here in 2003 to attend WVU, and those are the school colors, so Strange the Dreamer was fitting for today 💛💙

This Parisian Cafe candle from In the Wick of Time of one of my favorites! I think the label is perfect with the nod to Lou's stripey bumblebee tights ? ❤
Happy #mapmonday! I love when I finish a book & I am so excited that I'm led to other great books/authors. I love Dan Brown; he's an auto-buy for me, so years ago I searched for similar authors and found Steve Berry. Steve Berry happens to always have hardcovers in Barnes & Nobles' clearance section for under $7! How can I go wrong with books in a style I like on the cheap!?!
Do you have any similar experiences?

It has been so long since I have read Harry Potter, so I have been thinking of doing a re-read, but my TBR is already ridiculously out of control that I just don't think it will actually happen. The 20th anniversary book release has been making me seriously consider it, though!
When was the last time you read Harry Potter?

Happy #socksunday 💕 I think I am in the same boat as quite a few others in trying to figure Litsy out...
You would never know it by my recent reads, but I DO actually like other genres besides YA fantasy, sci-fi & contemporary! I have a decent collection of mysteries, thrillers, and crime fiction, but social media tends to convince me to keep reading popular YA 🙈
"No matter where we are, we‘ll always share the same sky. We can always find each other in the same constellation." - The Star-Touched Queen, Roshani Chokshi
I love this The Star-Touched Queen-inspired candle from Icey Designs (Etsy). It's a nice musky, woodsy scent, and the label is stunning. This was a sampler size, but it really fills the room ?
