But in the isolated villages in the very north of Scotland, the villagers rely on the services of the itinerant sweep, Pete Ray, and his old-fashioned brushes. Pete is always able to find work in the Scottish highlands, until one day when Police Constable Hamish Macbeth notices blood dripping onto the floor of a villager's fireplace, and a dead body stuffed inside the chimney. The entire town of Lochdubh is certain Pete is the culprit, but Hamish doesn't believe that the affable chimney sweep is capable of committing murder. Then Pete's body is found on the Scottish moors, and the mystery deepens. Once again, it's up to Hamish to discover who's responsible for the dirty deed--and this time, the murderer may be closer than he realizes.

Hamish kept me company all day yesterday as I cleaned the house and finally put the Christmas decorations away. 😆 Hamish along with Agatha Raisin are my comfort listens and I love both series. Highly recommended if you like cozy murder mysteries. 4⭐️

So this was written a bit differently to the other Hamish Macbeth murder mysteries but i found i enjoyed the style better!
I liked the fact the murder was committed in the first chapter as an opening to the story instead of halfway through like the other books in this series, and i found the story line very gripping but easy to read!
This one is definitely a 5/5 from me!

Time to start book 26 (!) of the Hamish MacBeth Series. Always good to visit Hamish and Lochdubh even if this usually means murder! Wonder how his relationship with women (or not) is going!

rretzler I typically love Beaton‘s two mystery series, but I think as she ages they have fallen off a bit. 🙁 6y

queerbookreader @BookswithTea I tried the first 4 of the Tea Shop Mysteries bcz tea is my life but I just can't deal with Laura Childs' writing style. I tried one of her other series too and it's the same way. I'm so upset, I wanted to read them so badly but her style makes me want to throw my book across the room!! 😩 8y
