College friends meet up 20 years later, remembering one of the friends who died a few years ago. Sweet story
I enjoyed this story about a group of friends and their friendship over the years. They go their separate ways, come back together, had fights, separated, and then finally all came back together on the 40th birthday of one of the friends who had died a few years previously. How the one person in their group that is no longer alive and with them can bring them all back together and promote healing.
I read this last night while fighting insomnia (Sunday night, Daylight Savings). Quick pace and held my interest, but the ending didn‘t really pack a punch for me. A good beach read of a book.
I loved the concept of this book. I could totally relate to its plot. I did enjoy this one as a character study but would not consider it to be a page-turner. It was more of a slow burn. This book's strength are the relatable and interesting characters.
5 long lost college best friends reunited for a holiday weekend, all discovering they're just as a mess at 40 as they were at 22. Sometimes stories that rotate between multiple POV narrators lose my interest because they hop around too much. This story rotated between 5 friends seamlessly. I've always been a fan of the author and this didn't disappoint.
You can guess, you can speculate, you can assume. But you truly don't know until you're there.
When you essentially live where everyone else vacations, it's hard to buckle down and write that paper about NOAA budget cuts, when you'd rather just start a new book and enjoy the day.
Have you ever liked a book while simultaneously being annoyed with it? I was interested in the story of a group of college friends who reunite after 20 years, but these people could solve a lot of problems by actually talking to the people in their lives rather than expecting someone to magically figure out what the other person needs! The narrator was good but the way she voiced the male characters made them seem half asleep. #PopSugarChallenge
My Kindle copy includes the audiobook, so I'm having a lunch hour listen! This book is going to count toward a couple of my PopSugar Reading Challenge categories. It's my first experience reading Allison Winn Scotch. #audiobook
I found this book on Amazon, as a book I might like. Well Amazon was wrong, I didn't like. I pushed through it hoping it was just a slow start, and because I hate giving up, but it never got better. Too many characters to keep straight, not a good enough story line. I wouldn't recommended.
I'm not sure if it's because I tyrned forty this summer, of the flashbacks remind me of my own youth, but this book has me in the feels.
also, first post!
Interesting book about a group of friends who returned to the house they lived in during their college years at Penn for the 4th of July weekend 18 years after graduation. It would also have been the 40th birthday of their housemate who died at age 27. All of the characters were young enough to be my sons and daughters and their lifestyles were different than mine was at that age but it was a good read.
Started this today... Saw mixed reviews on it, but so far I'm liking it. And it's an easy read.... I read 1/4 of it in less than an hour.
Got this one today. Has been on my list since it came out. Excited to read it!
Just say no.
A group of friends reunite at their old college house after many years thanks to a letter from their deceased friend. It's an entertaining beach read about friendship and it held my attention, but was just ok for me in the end.
I am an AWS fan from all the way back. I've read all her books (some more than once) I have to say though; this one just didn't do it for me. I was with her in the beginning. The setup was good. The characters were substantive and believable. Then it just kind of wandered. Some of the characters (ahem, Lindy) really began to irk me. And the wrap up was a bit too schmaltzy. I like a nice ending, but since there's nothing between Pick and So-So 😕
This was nice! A very appropriate summer read, perfect for a break between heavier books.
I'm a little over halfway through listening to this novel. The characters are varied and quite interesting, and it's a light, dramatic, summery read. (And the cover is quite pretty! And it's set in Philadelphia, which is my hometown! Bonuses! 👍)
Quick read! Story of college roommates who vow to meet up 20 years later & promise to remain friends. End up meeting 18 years later at request of one roomie's will. Love. Lies. Infidelities. Babies. Careers. Years. Does the friendship survive? Read it and see 😉
Just starting this book ... But I have high hopes for any book that starts with this quote! #Prince #LetsGoCrazy
Good summer book about friendship, relationships & where a group of friends find themselves in 20 years. Didn't like most of the characters at first but they grew & grew on me. Poignant but w/ funny moments. Paired w/California Roll Poke Bowl inspired by my life 20 years ago-review/recipe on blog.
Reunion books can be hit or miss and this one had ups and downs. ~Melinda

About to start this gem....it looks to be right up my alley!
Guaranteed to be her seventh bestseller. Entertaining with drops of true insight throughout. Solid "friends reunion" type read.
I'm prepping a Q&A with Allison Winn Scotch right now. Do you have any questions you want me to ask?? Let me know asap. X
So excited to read this one! At 17% in, I am holding all ten fingers up. Two thumbs not being enough. :)
"In twenty years, this is what I hope for you, this is what I want you to be:
Be inspired. Be your best. Don't hesitate to fail. Don't hesitate not to. Undercook your bread. Enjoy the goo. Overlook your bread. Enjoy the crust."
Aaaaahhhh... A luxurious hotel room and finally some quality time with this novel.
