In this gripping novel of small-town scandal and sizzling passion, New York Timesbestselling author Nora Roberts tells the story of a renowned artist who confronts a mystery from her pastand finds that her family secrets have not been laid to rest. Famed sculptor Clare Kimball has commanded the attention of the New York art world, but troubling memories from childhood have drawn her home to Maryland, to the town where she grew up and where her father died so long ago in circumstances never really explained. Nothing much has changed in Emmitsboroexcept Cameron Rafferty, the onetime high-school bad boy turned town sheriff. The only hint of Cams wild nature is the light in his eyes when he looks at Clare. In Cams strong arms Clare is seduced into falling in loveand into believing that her small-town world is safe. But within the dark woods of Emmitsboro, something evil is spreading its poisonous power. Now Clare must pay the price for digging up the secrets of the past . . . and confront an evil that may be unstoppablebecause those who practice it believe it is divine.

You can‘t go wrong with Nora! This was a great read. Perfect spooky and creepy romance read for the season. This is also part of my #chunkster challenge so two birds. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. Loved the characters! #LittensLoveRomance #Scarathlon #TeamMonsterMash @StayCurious

StayCurious Love Nora! I think you and I are book soulmates - love seeing your reviews 1y
KristiAhlers @StayCurious awe thank you! And yes, she‘s an automatic read for me! And I‘ve had the pleasure of meeting her and she‘s beyond kind. Very down to earth! 1y
all_4_kb I‘ve never read a Nora before …. I‘m not a fan of too much romance. Are they very gushy? 1y

StayCurious @kbibliophilific try her stuff from the 90s and early 2000s - that's when I got hooked. Not too gushy at all. 1y
all_4_kb @StayCurious will do. Thank you! 1y
KristiAhlers @kbibliophilific no not at all. I started reading her in the 80‘s for that time she was very different. I fell in love with her NOLA set suspense reads! 💜 1y

My 1st Nora Roberts book. Not my usual read for sure, but it kept me entertained well enough for a few days (with only a few eye rolls 😜)

(I have to admit I was secretly love it when my drinks accidentally match🤓 #booksandbooze)

I'm conflicted. Definitely the darkest Nora Roberts I've ever read, and I'm not sure that's a good thing. Small town secrets, a satanic cult, human sacrifices 😱. Thoroughly covers a lot of ground like most of her early novels, but big time creepy and not at all what I thought I was getting into.

But my breakfast view in Saint Kitts this morning was 👌🏽

AlaMich Gorgeous view!! 6y
MarriedtoMrT Teen me LOVED this one. I think it was one of my favorites of hers. I owned it and reread it multiple times. Adult me hasn‘t picked it up again so I wonder what I would think of it now. 6y

Turns out it was a reread for me but it had been so long, I actually had it both confused with a different Nora book and also forgotten how it ended. It drug a little in parts but overall was a good read.

Luckily I have no plans tonight. Other than reading of course. The dog had dental work done today so he's groggy and resting and I'm about to put my pjs on and finish this book.

DGRachel Is there anything more pathetic than a dog coming out of anesthesia? 🐶 7y
CocoReads Poor guy. Even though his work was in the morning he's still pretty groggy. 7y
JacqMac Sounds cozy. Hope the pup recovers well. 7y
CocoReads Thanks. I'm sure he'll be fine. He's extra tired anyway because it stormed last night and we couldn't sedate because of today's procedure. 7y

Maybe not lighter than my other 2 current reads, but a favorite author and I don't think I've read this one yet. If I have, I don't remember #24in48
