'This story of psychological attrition builds to an incredibly tense finale - before delivering an amazing final twist, Riveting stuff' Sunday Mirror 'One of the most richly satisfying psychological thrillers of 2016, a book that hooks the reader from the first page' Irish Independent 'I think you might be my father . . .' When first-year student Zo Barry walks into Professor David Connolly's office and tentatively says these words, he is left reeling. But it is the lives of his family - particularly his wife Caroline - which are turned upside down by the arrival of this stranger. A daughter, a sister, a friend . . . an enemy? Though no one knows quite who Zo is, she is soon entangled in their lives. Yet her stories don't ring true and Caroline is determined to learn if the girl is the unlucky innocent she claims to be or someone with a far darker agenda. A deadly cuckoo in the nest . . . Because by letting Zo in, David and Caroline aren't just leaving themselves vulnerable. They're risking the most precious thing in the world - the lives of their children . . . 'A taut, tense psycho-gripper' Sunday Sport Praise for Karen Perry 'Both as a crime novel and as an emotional journey, it's gripping stuff' Tana French 'Taut, smartly written, empathetic, unbearably tense' Irish Independent

The interpersonal drama of this story is intricate and interesting, but the execution is plodding, and it takes way too long for the story to unfold. And while I know there wouldn't have been any plot (and it wouldn't have been realistic) if the characters had been emotionally mature, well-adjusted people, I just felt annoyed at them. Throughout the novel, I'm like, "Dude, just TALK to each other!"

The idea is clever and well thought out, but it‘s a bit disjointed and not the easiest to follow. The ending was weird too. I don‘t think it tied up the loose ends well.

While the characters in this book make stupid decisions that really could‘ve been avoided by properly communicating with one another, the pacing and the twists really pick up in the second half all the way to the end.

Girl Unknown took my emotions through the ringer. I can't remember the last time I have been annoyed with every character in a book. But with saying that I couldn't put this book down once I started reading it. The characters were very well-written. Even though I disagreed with a lot of decisions that were made by the characters - I was able to understand why they were doing it. Sometimes hurt lasts longer than when we say all is forgiven.

Unknown is about right .. I really got involved in this book, and while it does gives some good and shocking answers it doesn‘t give the main one! Good shock value but lacking the answer I wanted! So frustrated right now 🙏🏻😂

Ahhh I love a good domestic suspense thriller. This story is told (mostly) in two POVs: David and Caroline, the husband and wife. The authors (a duo!) did a superb job of writing an already-fractured marriage that spiraled even further when Zoe came into the picture - Zoe, the daughter from a past relationship that ended before the marriage. The tension and distrust between everyone drives the plot and suspense. I couldn‘t have predicted that end.

Smangela Sounds awesome! Stacked! 6y

Girl Unknown is a light thriller/family drama that has a Lifetime movie vibe. It's narrated by husband & wife, Caroline & David. David is confronted by his student Zoe who claims that he is her father. As a result, Zoe becomes more & more involved in their family life, conflict ensues & questions of trust arise.

My issue with the story is that the 1st half of the book is very slow & ultimately I could not connect with any of the characters.

KrystleTheBookSlayer @MidnightBookGirl Thank you! I'm hoping to stick around until she wakes up from anaesthesia and then I have to get home, take care of the dog, and hopefully get some shut eye. I didn't get any sleep last night. 6y

Loved this look inside a rocky marriage. When David‘s college student confronts him claiming to be his daughter from a previous relationship, all hell breaks loose in his marriage and family. Told from both David and his wife, Caroline‘s point of view, we get insights into what deceptions and secrets can do to wreak havoc. And is Zoe really who she says she is? Nice twists also. Thanks to NetGalley.😍😍😍😍😍

Excellent believable writing by the authors, very teasing with a tense build up. The story had enjoyable characters who often left me frustrated. I badly wanted to know the ending and was not disappointed.

Zoe's arrival into David's word slowly unravelled his world and the people in it. The plot was good and the tapestry of the plot slowly worked its magic. I did find the book a bit slow in parts but overall an enjoyable read
