Book recommendation of the day! DESIGNER YOU by @SLBruck
This is a story of grief, but also of brilliant hope and recreation.
Pam Wheeler checked every box: Happy marriage? Check. Fantastic kid? Check. Booming career? Check.
So when her husband dies suddenly and their DIY empire goes on life support, Pam must fix the relationship with her troubled and grief-stricken daughter and save the family business.
This novel is almost too much to take, but in light of everything, it's more important than ever to truly understand the impact of gun violence. #RhiannonNavin‘s debut couldn‘t have come at a more poingnant time. This story, told from the point of view of 1st grader Zach, is about the Taylor family‘s loss of their son, Andy after a gunman killed him & 18 others in an elementary school. It's tough but important to read this. It's left me speechless
“This is what loss has taught me of love. Our house isn‘t simply empty, our home has been emptied. Love makes a place in your life, it makes place for itself in your bed…When it‘s gone nothing is whole again.”-Tayari Jones
I was planning on doing a lot of housework today but each time I walk by this book, I sit down for a little bit to read and I can‘t stop. The bathroom floors can wait.
I just finished #TheGreatAlone and I am utterly floored by this book. I felt like I've lived another life while reading it. What a formidable, unforgettable, gripping story. I am awestruck. The adventure of Alaska was wonderful alone. But the message about strength and domestic violence and resilience in so many brave female characters was healing for my soul. Thank you so very much @stmartinspress for my review copy. Out 2/6
“We shut out the world and lived on love but the world came roaring back.”
I‘m about 150 pages in; this is a carry-with-you-everywhere type of book because it‘s so gripping and well written. I feel like I am shivering in Alaska, trying to survive right beside Leni. Her bravery during the struggles that she has to overcome as a young girl are so inspiring.
This little dog is sure stealing my heart and apparently my book too!

a story about bravery, hope and intrigue? This is about the daughter of a man with multiple wives who lives a simple life. As her 18th birthday approaches, she is expected to follow in the footsteps of those around her and become the fourth wife of a man twice her age. It‘s a life of strict, quiet, unfair servitude. But Hanna has a spark in her, one that lights a revelation: there may be another path, if she‘s brave enough to take it.
I don‘t read because I have no where to go. I read because I have so many places to visit. #fortheloveofbooks #rwbookclub #dailybookpic #dailypic #whyread #stmartinspress #thatswhatsheread #thewifebetweenus
Can writing be rich? That's what I feel as I read this book. Like I'm indulging in a decadent dessert that I want to savor until the very last bite. #penguinpress #bookofthemonthclub #botm #celesteng #littlefireseverywhere
