As a lover of horror, I‘m a little ashamed to say this my first Adam Neville read. Even though I think this could have been trimmed down slightly (it‘s 530 pgs), I enjoyed this one. Kyle, a struggling film documentarian, thinks his problems may have been solved when he is asked to shoot a documentary about the 1970s notorious cult, Temple of the Last Days. I enjoyed this book. A week later and I am still thinking about it. There were some creepy parts and I will never look at stains on the wall in the same way. I love books about cults and this cult is truly terrifying.
The book did feel overlong. The character Max seemed to have long explanations that could have been shorter. The supernatural aspect of this was disturbing. How can you fight an otherworldly demon?
This was a slog for me. Unlikeable characters, repetitive writing and a storyline that I just didn‘t find scary. It was also overly long. Just didn‘t work for me, but it may for other horror fans!
I definitely enjoyed this way more than The Ritual, but I still feel like it kinda ended in a way that I found flat. I also find the leads in both of his novels pretty awful and I don‘t feel very sympathetic when bad things happen to them? But overall I did enjoy this!
I would definitely recommend this book to seasoned paranormal horror readers who enjoy checking the dark corners of their houses twice as they walk past. 😉

Put the book down mom and let's go to bed!
I still haven't finished Last Days by Adam Nevil. I've been busy today just being all around mom. I am quite tired but this book has me engrossed and captured, after a hard start. Perhaps just one more chapter...
My purrrrfect reading companion ❤

This was a great horror story!! Lots of mystery and the creepiness starts quickly and just keeps escalating. Very nice horrific imagery. Adam Nevill is a must-read for horror fans!
