This book has been on my #goodreadsbacklist the longest.... Since January 2014!!! 5 years!!! I don't remember where I first heard about it, but I added it to my list because the plot intrigued me. A family is on a road trip to watch the world end in California. With Evangelical parents trying to save as many souls as possible, & two sisters who aren't so sure about any of it, one who's secretly pregnant, things are getting tense.

TrishB I read one yesterday that had been on my kindle for 7 years!! 5y
Kalalalatja The premise sounds great! 5y
valeriegeary @TrishB there's just something satisfying about it, isn't there?! 😄 5y
valeriegeary @Kalalalatja I'm finding it to be just okay. A lot more intimate portrait of a family on a road trip, and not so much about the end of the world/religion stuff. It's not bad. But I'm not sure it's going to leave a lasting impression. 5y

Their father is convinced the world is ending and takes his family on a road trip to California so they‘ll be the first to get to heaven. Bought this for the cover and the book didn‘t quite live up to the cover. #mylastday #nuyear

TrishB Sounds so interesting too! 6y
Tamra Yes, the premise is intriguing. 6y

Cinfhen I'm pretty sure @LauraBeth posted about this book awhile ago...sounds intriguing 6y
Blaire @TrishB @Cinfhen @tamra it was a fun beach read - older daughter is a rebel and skeptic and younger daughter wants to believe. A lot of family dynamics. It wasn‘t anything amazing but it was fun. 6y
Blaire @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks thanks! It was my husband‘s great-great-grandfather‘s. 6y
Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks @Blaire I knew it had history 💗💗💗💗 6y
LauraBeth @cinfhen I checked it out with Georgia Peaches and ended up reading that one and not getting to this one. So i still need to read it! (edited) 6y

Pickpick

A pick for what it is - a fun novel of a family on a road trip to get to California for the end days, which according to their church is approaching I'm a few days. The beautiful older sister is a nonbeliever who rebels in various ways. The younger sister wants to believe but is becoming skeptical. A fun, quick road trip book about religion, family dynamics, and being a teenager - this was a good beach read. ⭐️⭐️⭐️ #lrcbingo #bythecover #mmd

I will never refuse to read books about teenagers who are preacher's kids and who are living in (or leaving) the south.

Cinfhen I'll have to let you read this one first! 7y

Mehso-so

I fell in love with the deeply flawed characters. But I wouldn't recommend this book to most people because you have to have a particular dislike yet interest in religion and human motivation to enjoy it.

Today in #riotgrams - a character or author who shares your name. This book was recently recommended to me by a friend and coworker whose judgement I trust. The main character, Jess, is "on a road trip to the end of the world." I'm looking forward to what she's described as a mashup of On the Road and Swamplandia!

saguarosally Back to normal price. If it goes back down again I'll get it. 8y
EvieBee @saguarosally oh no! I'll keep checking. It's kind of an obsession: adding books to wishlist and sorting from lowest price to highest. Occasionally I'll get freebies. Sigh. 8y
