My Name Is Red | Orhan Pamuk

#NUYear #MyLastDay
The first chapter of this brilliant book is told by a corpse thrown in the bottom of a well as he recounts his last day. The subsequent chapters explore the murder from multiple voices including a coin. This is the cover of my volume but it would take me ages to find it in the piles in the spare bedroom.

Reggie Yep, this sounds like it‘s for me. Lol 6y
Reggie You had me at multiple voices including a coin. 6y

Last Orders | Graham Swift

#NuYear #MyLastDay Four men gather in a London pub. They have taken it upon themselves to carry out the last orders of Jack Dodds, master butcher, and deliver his ashes to the sea. As they drive towards the fulfillment of their mission, their errand becomes an extraordinary journey into their collective and individual pasts. A great book and a great movie. Highly recommend ❤️📚

In this novel, everybody needs to think about #mylastday when they get the call from Death-Cast which tells them they will die within the next 24 hours. The two protagonists, Mateo and Rufus, help each other through their last day, while getting up to all kinds of trouble at the same time ⏳

laurieluna Loved this. ❤ 6y
Kaye Tuesday‘s With Morrie was also terrific. I like how this one seems to link all the people together in some way. I think real life works like that too. A bit of the “what goes around comes around” theory ? 6y

Dr. Darke has reached the end of his life and has cut himself off from the world to meditate on his failings and all of the loves that he lost. Gradually, while trying to immerse himself in only darkness, some hopeful bits of light begin to show. I‘ve had this on my list forever, for some reason drawn to this dark premise, and finally found a cheap copy! Planning on using for #booked2018 #MCover70yearsold

Cinfhen Gorgeous photo 💜not familiar with this book...sounds intense ( in a good way) 6y
emilyhaldi @Cinfhen I can't even remember where I first saw it but I haven't seen love for it anywhere. And consequently it was hard to find a cheaper copy. Hopefully it's not a total bust! 🤞🏻 6y

Their father is convinced the world is ending and takes his family on a road trip to California so they‘ll be the first to get to heaven. Bought this for the cover and the book didn‘t quite live up to the cover. #mylastday #nuyear

Cinfhen I'm pretty sure @LauraBeth posted about this book awhile ago...sounds intriguing 6y
Blaire @TrishB @Cinfhen @tamra it was a fun beach read - older daughter is a rebel and skeptic and younger daughter wants to believe. A lot of family dynamics. It wasn‘t anything amazing but it was fun. 6y
Blaire @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks thanks! It was my husband‘s great-great-grandfather‘s. 6y
Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks @Blaire I knew it had history 💗💗💗💗 6y
LauraBeth @cinfhen I checked it out with Georgia Peaches and ended up reading that one and not getting to this one. So i still need to read it! (edited) 6y

Hannah spent a long time planning hers.....
Numan was suffering a major period of depression when he wrote this song - it‘s about his fear that he wasn‘t going to be around to look after his daughters- his love for them shines through even if it has sad undertones. It‘s a lovely, sad song.
