#Riotgrams #Day24 #Cookbooks

This is the only cookbook I actually own. My bf and I use our instapot a lot during the winter for soups, stews, and rice dishes. I really should get a good all-around cookbook though.

Any good recommendations for a solid everyday cooking style cookbook?

Princess-Kingofkings My favorite 1 & 2. They even have labels free to print from the web. 5y

Saknicole Make me some good foods! Yummmmmmy 5y
Saknicole Also I'll get you a copy of Alaska from Scratch for some holiday. It's my favorite, where I got those salmon burgers I made at murder mystery this year 5y
Kimberlone @Saknicole yes, I really want a copy of that! I‘ve been tempted at Costco 5y
Kimberlone @Beatlefan129 @Purpleness @Princess-Kingofkings thank you for the recommendations! 5y

I‘m not a cook. So, when Mr. B says “Whatcha making for dinner?”I usually say “Reservations!” But for some unknown reason I agreed to make baby back ribs tonight. I think having the Instant Pot (and the tagged cookbook, which contains the recipe I used) makes me brave. And, daaaammmnn, these ribs turned out delicious. As you can see I wimped out on the vegetable—ran out of time!

knittedgnome I love my pressure cooker!! Really good for whole chicken too! 6y
CampbellTaraL Wow, that looks pretty amazing! Happy dining tonight 😃 6y
BarbaraTheBibliophage @knittedgnome I‘ve done thighs but not a whole chicken yet. Any recipe suggestions? 6y

BarbaraTheBibliophage @taraWritesSci Thanks! And we have enough for leftovers—so happy dining tomorrow too! 6y
monkeygirlsmama Looks pretty good! I‘ve heard wonderful things about the InstaPot. Thinking I might have to get one when we move. 6y
Tamra Isn‘t it awesome? I used mine today - put a FROZEN round roast in it with pepperoncini, crushed tomatoes, & beef stock and 2 hours later it‘s fall apart ready for sandwiches. 😋 6y
BarbaraTheBibliophage @monkeygirlsmama They can be intimidating, but you get past that, they are awesome! Do you already cook a bit? If so, that helps a lot! 6y
BarbaraTheBibliophage @Tamra I KNEW you‘d find this. You‘re my IP buddy. We haven‘t tried frozen meat yet, but it sounds extra easy! 6y
knittedgnome I pretty much do this but stuff in just onion and garlic. After the meat is off the bones I also make broth. So yummy! https://amindfullmom.com/how-to-make-a-whole-chicken-in-the-instant-pot/ 6y
Tamra @BarbaraTheBibliophage take a look at https://www.hippressurecooking.com/ She has a cooking time table for several categories of foods, thawed & frozen. I like her cookbook too. BUT her cookbook time table doesn‘t include frozen items. (edited) 6y
kspenmoll Yum! My son bought his dad an Instant Pot for Christmas & he has enjoyed cooking with it. Will have yo@pass on ribs recipe! (edited) 6y
HOTPock3tt “Whatcha making for dinner? RESERVATIONS!”That‘s sounds like ME! 🤣 I have a crock pot but haven‘t really tried it out yet 😕lol 6y
BarbaraTheBibliophage @knittedgnome Looks yummy! Thanks! 6y
BarbaraTheBibliophage @Tamra I follow her on FB. Glad to know she‘s got an accurate chart for frozen times! 👏🏻👏🏻 6y
BarbaraTheBibliophage @kspenmoll I‘m glad you‘re getting to enjoy the fruits of his labor! 6y
TK421 Dang those ribs look good!! 6y
BarbaraTheBibliophage @HOTPock3tt Crock pots are terrific also! If I was the regular cook in our house, I‘d use both equally. 6y
BarbaraTheBibliophage @TK421 We were surprised at how meaty they were! Super yum—sorry if I made you hungry! 6y
TK421 I'm always hungry for ribs. Anytime anyplace. I could eat 2 full racks in my younger days.😊🐷 6y
Tamra @BarbaraTheBibliophage well in all honesty, she doesn‘t recommend pressure cooking roasts bc they fall apart, but in this case that‘s what I wanted. Rule of thumb is twice the time for frozen. Total nerd stuff. 😆 6y
BarbaraTheBibliophage @TK421 I agree. We have two friends who have two barbecue restaurants near us. We eat lots of ribs! My limit is three ribs—I‘m a lightweight! 6y
BarbaraTheBibliophage @Tamra Nerd stuff is awesome. I‘m glad your roast turned out! 6y
JoScho I love my Instant Pot but haven‘t tried ribs yet. 6y
BarbaraTheBibliophage @JoScho It‘s a fun choice and a crowd pleaser! 6y
Jadams89 Those look delicious!!! 6y
BarbaraTheBibliophage @Jadams1776 They are! I can‘t wait for the leftovers tomorrow night. 👏🏻👏🏻 6y
LibrarianJen I love my instapot! Another place for good recipes is Nom Nom Paleo. 6y
monkeygirlsmama @BarbaraTheBibliophage Some, but I‘m not a fan. Haha 6y
BarbaraTheBibliophage @monkeygirlsmama Haha. I hear you. My hubs is our main cook. Every time I cook he says, “that was one of your two times this year, right?” 6y
BarbaraTheBibliophage @LibrarianJen Oh, good call! Thanks! 6y

Today is the day! I got this bad boy for Christmas and the corresponding cookbook (which is my cookbook choice for February) but I haven‘t touched it yet because IT TERRIFIES ME! I have this notion that I am going to try to pressure cook chicken but accidentally blow up my house 🤷🏻‍♀️ So today I am going to face my fear and try to make some steal cut oats...stay tuned! #💜themrs

DivineDiana Good luck! Everyone who has one raves about it! 🙂 6y
NatalieR I‘m anxious to hear what you think of the pot and the cookbook. I got one for Xmas too and have only made a dip and chili. It intimidates me and I‘m not a creative cook. 6y
Melissa_J I love mine! I need to get that cookbook though because I have no idea what to make in it - so far I‘ve made meatballs, chili and rice. 6y

ReviewsbytheMrs @DivineDiana yes! Maybe I should reach out to some of those people and grab recipe ideas 💡 6y
ReviewsbytheMrs @NatalieR @Melissa_J I‘ll try to post some of the recipes that I try from the cookbook. I will probably scope out Pinterest too! 💜 6y
BarbaraTheBibliophage It‘s not scary. Really. Do the water test in the manual first. Then hard boil some eggs. Then try a dinner. I‘d also recommend joining a FB group for IP users. There are several, and some are def newbie friendly. Have fun! 6y
Tamra I love my IP! Very convenient and easy to use so you‘ll catch on quickly. Happy cooking! 6y

MinDea 😄😄love it! 7y
Leftcoastzen An amazing photo! I was there when I was a kid too. Is that some kind of Wonder Woman / Amazon arm band? 7y
BarbaraTheBibliophage @Leftcoastzen I was there about ten years ago too. So beautiful! We had just been to a "dude ranch" type camp, so I think it was some kind of leather armband. Check out the leather amulet / necklace thing. ? 7y

The mug reads, "A book a day, keeps reality away." Some chocolate lava cake helps a lot too. Thanks to my new Instant Pot!

I've been busy on Pinterest and in the kitchen. Not reading much, and when I am I keep feeling distracted. I hate these phases. Trying to find the book that'll shake me loose from the slump!

Tamra 😋 So delicious looking! 7y
BarbaraTheBibliophage @Tamra Oh it is! Not too much, very rich and not overly sweet. Mr. B licked his plate! 7y
DivineDiana Yum! 7y

Jaimelire Yum👍 7y
Laylafinn Chocolate lava cake is my favorite! 7y
kspenmoll Looks wonderful! You‘ll revive your reading- cooking is healing & grounding! 7y
BarbaraTheBibliophage @DivineDiana @Jaimelire @Laylafinn I've had a request to make it again tonight. Oh my waistline! 7y
BarbaraTheBibliophage @kspenmoll Actually, today I've been reading that book you sent me for the summer solstice exchange. It's so good! (edited) 7y
TricksyTails Oh my, that looks delicious! I have an Instant Pot and never thought about doing desserts! Are there any must-try dessert recipes you'd recommend? 7y
BarbaraTheBibliophage @tricksytails LOL. This is the one and only dessert I've made. Lots of people make cheesecake also, but I haven't tried it yet. 7y
TricksyTails If there's only one cake to know, chocolate lava cake would be it! 7y
BarbaraTheBibliophage @tricksytails Absolutely! I know I'll make it often! 7y
TricksyTails So this is a single serving recipe, right? 😜 7y
BarbaraTheBibliophage @tricksytails The recipe makes four small lava cakes. Possibly three slightly larger ones, but we are a family of two so I make four. 😍 7y
TricksyTails Yup. My kind of "single serving" ? Alllllll mine. ?? 7y
Cinfhen You really are loving that instapot 😘 7y
TricksyTails Have you figured out a way to clean the silicone seal? The smell of whatever was cooked last in it REALLY infuses into the silicone. I've washed and washed and the food smell doesn't go away. Any tips? Thank you. 7y
TricksyTails @BarbaraTheBibliophage Oh, thanks so much. Some really good tips on there 😁 7y

This is the only Instapot cookbook my library has. Thank goodness it's a good one. I've successfully used at least one recipe from each section. They've all come out perfect. I've ordered my own copy and can't wait to get it all loved on and dirty in the kitchen.
