This nonfiction book (with some speculative fiction too) of a woman who built a champagne empire was interesting.
A companion book was the novel
Champagne Widows: First Woman of Champagne: Veuve Clicquot by Rebecca Rosenberg
I‘m loving learning the facts about champagne in this book but as @CarolynM has mentioned, there is a lot of speculation about The Widow Clicquot herself in this book for it to be labeled as a non-fiction biography. After this book I‘ll read as a companion piece, the historical fiction book Champagne Widows by Rebecca Rosenberg. I saw her talk at Adventures by the Book Super Book 3 event in San Diego earlier this year

Upgrade your sparkling wine to this authentic bubbly, which can be called Champagne, because it‘s made in that region of France; the birthplace of champagne in Champagne!

As Champagne ages it mellows and is free from harsh taste.
Finished this #Audiobook.
It was neat learning about the champagne business and how it evolved over the years.
Since the author was a woman who was interested in the Widow Clicquot, she then went on a research trip, and this book is the result. I didn‘t like how the author assigned thoughts and feelings to the Widow, which that woman might not have felt.
Still an engaging story.
Champagne 🍾 anyone?

2. #Romance
3. This one is tough, because I drink these two, but not coffee. But I‘ll go with Hot Chocolate!
The story of the creation of the Veuve Cliquot champagne brand presented as a biography of the the woman who founded it, Barbe-Nicole Ponsardin Cliquot. I was interested in the information about the Champagne district and the origins of the modern drink, but there wasn't really enough information available to make it truly satisfying as a biography. Too much speculation about what B-N may or may not have been thinking.

Just off to a relaxing read at the summit of Pike‘s Peak in Colorado. #widoeclicquot #pikespeak #notchampagne
This was an interesting read about the inspiring Barbe-Nicole Clicquot also known as the Widow (or Veuve) Clicquot. She turned a struggling business into an empire throughout challenging times in European history and during a time when few women held such positions. The fact that her champagne is still being enjoyed today is a testament to her ingenuity and determination.
When you leave your champagne in the freezer too long, you get a champagne slushie. Which is to say, you should make a point to leave your champagne in just a liddy too long. (Too too long and it‘ll explode, so it‘s a delicate balance, but worth it)
This is technically non-fiction but is based largely on speculation due to the non-existence of historical records about Barbe-Nicole Cliquot Ponsardin's life. You will read so many sentences that begin with "it's likely,", "she must have", and "perhaps", so I'm counting it as #foodiefiction. I learned a lot about the champagne making process though! ??? #readJanuary
#readjanuary #atopicyoudliketoknowmoreabout Found this book quite by chance. I had no idea Veuve Clicquot champagne became the brand it is today because of a woman. One of the first great businesswomen, she definitely deserves learning more about. Can't wait to read this! #nonfiction #biography
