It can be lonely sometimes on a rainy day in a big house with no one else around and theres only the quiet to keep you company. But if you find a key, a mysterious key, that leads you to an unexpected place . . . chances are your afternoon is about to get a lot more interesting.

This picture book contained no words, but the illustrator used lines to extend the meaning of the book. An example of this was he used lines to help the reader follow the story better.

Really enjoyed this book! The illustrations tell such a story. Would be great for children to explore on their own.

Rainstorm by Barbara Lehman is a picture book that was created in 2007. The illustrations are so nice, very simplistic but just what the storyline needs. There‘s a good amount of color and the use of boxes helps the flow of the story. I‘m usually not the biggest fan of books without words, but this is definitely a favorite. They story line was portrayed so easily through the illustrations and it had a good message.

In the picture book Rainstorm a young boy is bored during a rainstorm. He opens a trunk and it is a passageway to another world. He goes outside and plays and enjoys the day. After the rain stops he climbs back through the trunk and back to his home. He happily goes to bed.

This book has no words in the entire book-however, it is easy to follow. The pictures are extremely clear and cartoon-like which is visually appealing to children. This would be a good book to ask kids "and now what..." to work on their reading comprehension skills.

This particular book doesn‘t use words however each picture tells the story. In this picture the boy is climbing into the chest and beginning his adventure.

This book is very cute. It is a story of creativity, friendship, and imagination. I love the authors use of illustrations to tell the story even though there are no words. The reader still knows exact what it happening and it is a very unique type of book.

This story was illustrated by Barbara Lehman. It was published by the Houghton Mifflin Company in 2007. This is another book that relies solely on illustrations rather than words to tell the story. It is about a boy who is bored during a rainstorm and he finds a key to a treasure chest. He climbs inside of the chest. This chest leads him on an adventure to a lighthouse where he meets new friends and plays with them all day.

A good book to read to a classroom on a rainy day when they can‘t go play outside. Reading this to the class will help the children brainstorm ideas they can do inside on that rainy day!

This books takes place in a house that is far from everything else. The author portrays this by the house being a large land with nothing around to do, especially on a rainy day. If you allow yourself to explore and use your imagination, you may just come across a key that will led you to a world with many things to do. Genre: Picture book; Published: 2007

I loved how at first the little boy was kicking the ball around his house since he was bored on a rainy day. He then used his imagination and became curious to do something fun that day.

This book only consists of pictures, no words. It would be a great story for 2nd-3rd graders to fill in what they think is happening throughout the story only by looking at pictures

This book had a nice message and I thought it was cute. The illustrations reminded of me of a comic book. I‘m not sure how I‘d present this to a class, but could be used when it‘s been very rainy outside.

Published in 2007 by Houghton Mifflin Co. This book didn‘t have words, but it did convey a short, simple story. The illustrations were clear and child like. It had a nice message that even when there‘s a bad day you can go on an adventure and have fun.

VeganCleopatra You'd have to pay me to live in GJ. 😆 I concur with @GeekGrl82, Denver must've gotten your portion of the rain. 😬 6y
kezzlou85 It's been so hot here in England too. We've not had a summer like this since the 70s. It's crazy. 6y
Quirkybookworm Actually GJ isn‘t really that bad. Mild weather year round. This year, we‘re having a drought. Water restrictions and so forth. This year has been the worse. The east side of Colorado‘s hogging all the rain! Lol @GeekGrl82 @VeganCleopatra (edited) 6y
Quirkybookworm @Kezzlou, you share the same seasons as we do in United States? Just curious. Love to hear about other countries!😊 6y
