Why Fonts Matter
Why Fonts Matter | Sarah Hyndman
5 posts | 1 read | 12 to read
Take a look at the experiences and associations type evokes. Fonts have different personalities that can create trust or mistrust, give you confidence, make things seem easier to do or make a product taste better. Understand the science behind how fonts influence what you read. Theyre hidden in plain sight, they trigger memories, associations and multi-sensory experiences in your imagination. You may not believe it, but fonts can change the meanings of words right before your very eyes, alter the taste of your food, evoke emotional responses and reveal their users' personalities. Graphic designer Sarah Hyndman specializes in exploring how fonts influence us as type consumers; Why Fonts Matter synthesizes Hyndman's 20 years of experience as graphic designer with her typographic research and the findings of experimental psychologists and neuroscientists.

And...apparently Faleena Hopkins has another trademark that‘s a word mark but it‘s using a font that she cannot legally trademark and the creator of said font is on vacation but has said he‘d look into it upon his return so someone else might be changing their covers soon if it‘s determined she‘s violating her licensing agreement for the font. Someone might have gotten a little too cocky. #cockygate

jpmcwisemorgan That was a really long sentence but I‘m high on caffeine and going to crash from that soon so I have is long sentences. Apparently. For the record, this is how I speak. Mostly no punctuation with all my thoughts just spilling out and sometimes topics change and y‘all are just gonna have to follow along because I forget you‘re not inside my brain and don‘t understand how things are connected because I didn‘t give you the entire thought process. 😊 7y
tpixie Lol it‘s like reading one of my favorite books- no punctuation! 7y
JacqMac 😂 My husband talks like this when he has a brain burst. So I‘m still with you. I have practice. 7y

#TBRtemptation post 2! This book looks at what we see everyday (especially Littens!) and explains how font affects us psychologically. They can seemingly alter words' definitions. They have their own personalities and can reveal yours. Which ones will work best for your messages. Font can even alter how we taste our food. If you want to give words impact, if you love words, this may be the book for you. #blameLitsy #blameMrBook 😎

My favourite piece about fonts...ever. https://www.mcsweeneys.net/articles/im-comic-sans-asshole.

I will actually pull this article up and read it when I'm depressed.

#ReadJanuary day 14 - #fortheloveoffonts

This is a sampling of the books I read in 2016. I like how different fonts give each book their own flavor. I also love it when an author's work used the same font on all their covers.
