You are dropped right in and the story hits the ground running and I was left floundering to keep up with it. Don‘t get me wrong, the premise is super good but I wanted more. The ending came way too quickly and I was like…wait, what…is that the end? But...if you like a short story format that has disturbingly clever new tech involved then this should totally work for you.

🎧 This was a great spin on the Final Girls phenomenon! I love science & monsters! Part Nightmare on Elm Street, part Corporate espionage thriller … with some great classic monsters.

Such a short novella that you could read it in one sitting! I look forward to more from Mira Grant!

Creepy, thought-provoking, lingering in the mind, especially the aspects around memory, personality, agency.
A sci-fi twist on the final girl horror trope. I'm beginning to think my sweet spot when it comes to horror is the novella length. I may be biased to like every final girl story, but I think this was clever and accomplished what it set out to do.

I love Mira Grant aka Seanan McGuire and this c is an eBook I really need to read soon.

As I had hoped, this little novella broke me out of my reading slump. My only complaint about the book is that it is too short. A lot of wasted potential there.
Now on to The Drowning Kind.

Since I had a $2 credit that expires tomorrow, I just couldn‘t resist finally getting this novella.

Would you submit to scripted nightmares if they could alter who you are and help you overcome personal issues? I had mixed feelings on how I felt about this techno/horror novella when I finished it. I think that is because I wish it were longer so that I could have become more invested. I also wanted more scenarios before the final one began. It would make a great episode of TV. #screamathon

Another brilliant and horrifying novella from Mira Grant/Seanan McGuire. Don't want to fall asleep now! 🙈

Read this a month or so ago and it was definitely thrilling for me! I love horror, but the more possible, human monsters always scare me the most!

This is kind of funny because I was just talking to my siblings about going to NYC during the holidays.

Ice cream and coffee break! I just finished Final Girls by Mira Grant. This horror novella was fantastic! Also, I'm in love with this cover. I haven't read much of Grant's work, but I'm definitely moving her higher up on my list of authors to read. I just downloaded Rolling in the Deep, her novella about dangerous (maybe even killer(?)) mermaids.

Taking a short break to let my eyes rest and then I'm moving on to another book. 😄

New reads from some of my favorite authors. My hubby is good at the birthday thing!

Creepy but really well written. I loved the mixture of brain sci-fi with virtual reality sci-fi. A reporter comes to a treatment facility that uses Virtual Reality to address and treat people's issues. She agrees to go into the VR and the creator joins her. Add in some corporate espionage and killings and prepare for a crazy story line. This novel is short and great for conversations

Would you change your memories if it meant healing some of your worst emotional scars? Is it still brain-washing if you knowingly consent? Are the risks of such a therapy worth it? Do we really want a world where people can just white-wash away bad experiences? And what might happen when such a technology falls into the wrong hands? I love a book that makes me think, and my only complaint about this one is that it wasn't longer!
