pickI feel like this is the kind of book that‘s meant to be revisited again and again, like a book of meditations. It was interesting and thought-provoking, with lots of wonderful advice, and methods for self-care, and I feel like its worth lies in that, not necessarily in a “read this book like a book” kind of way. This is definitely an interesting read, and so far, full of things I know I need to work on. I‘m a total bottle-up-er, and tend to take care of everyone else while ignoring my own feelings and well-being. I've had this audio book downloaded for a while and I keep dipping in and out of it. This is a book that on audio is actually quite hard going because it asks you to complete exercises (I listen to audiobooks when driving). But yesterday I picked it up again as I'm at a crossroads professionally and did find it a helpful exercise. It may just take me another few months of dipping in and out to finish it though!
I have to admit that I am somewhat struggling with this book's abrupt style of writing/composition. However, I do find things that speak to me in here. I think it's just not meant to be read in more than a couple of pages per day...
Listening to this on #audible. It's reading like a self help book which I didn't realise and usually I would avoid any self help books just because of personal taste. But as with many people I am feeling the strain of a work and life balancing act. Certainly feel at a crossroads. So it turns out that actually this book is probably popping up just at the right time. #we #empowerment
Got my order from @strandbookstore and one from BnN. Three were supposed to be signed, but sadly 2140 had a signed sticker, but no signature and came ripped. Total impulse buy because it's written by Gillian Anderson and I could use some help with self care & grieving healthily at the moment. It's littered with quotes by badass ladies, essays, and confidence building skills in a way that reminds me a little bit like Amy Cuddy and Brene Brown except written by one of my favorite actresses. 😍
