The Christmas Blessing
The Christmas Blessing | Donna VanLiere

In The Christmas Shoes, young Nathan Andrews was a child who lost his mother to cancer. Now his deepest wish is to become a doctor. When a stranger named Robert gave him the money to buy his mother a pair of shoes for her last Christmas, both Robert and Nathan learned the deepest lessons of love and giving. Now a medical student in his third year, Nathan realizes there are still things to be learned about faith, blessings, and sacrifice. Lessons he will learn from Meghan Sullivan-a young woman born with a hole in her heart that has not kept her from becoming a champion runner. And lessons learned from a young boy named Charlie, who teaches how to live a life of true courage. Together, they will help guide Nathan through the darkest period in his life. The Christmas Blessing is an inspiring about hope existing in the darkest places, and love is always the greatest gift of all.

Finished The Christmas Shoes last week and cried my eyes out over that one. This one was-thankfully-not that sad, although there are a couple of heavy moments. Nathan from The Christmas Shoes is no longer a child. He‘s a med student now and becomes involved with a frequent patient. These books are so sweet, so sappy. And outdated in some ways. But I‘ve enjoyed the first two so far and plan to keep going with this series.

Read this today after reading The Christmas Shoes last week, both require tissues 😢 There are plenty more in this series, so it looks like I‘ll be using them as part of the Series Challenge for 2023 hosted by @Andrew65 and @TheSpineView

I‘ve really enjoyed taking part in all the readathons this year Andrew-a great motivator 🙏🏻📖🤗

Andrew65 Brilliant progress and this looks interesting.
Thanks, glad to hear they have helped, and always great to have you taking part in them. 🥰❤️
Good luck with the series challenge, excited about that.

Parts of me recalled pieces of this story so maybe I‘ve read it before. Nevertheless, it was nice to see 8yo Nathan all grown up and every bit as honorable as we‘d expect of a boy who raced out to surprise his dying mama a pair of shoes to wear as she walked through the pearly gates to her eternity.

Crazeedi Oh my the comment on the previous book just made me cry 3y
marleed @Crazeedi I know, right! If tear ducts need a workout just read that little book. 3y

4 Stars. This book is sweet, sad, emotional, romantic, cute. The main character is in school to become a doctor, through him working with his patients you learn about his mothers death from cancer that deeply affected him. Beautiful ending. #WinterGames2020 #TeamRedNosedReindeer @StayCurious #CrushTheRush #ReadYourWay

So good. I loved it because it was about family but very sad because one of the characters had liver cancer.

⭐️⭐️⭐️: Corny and predictable but heartwarming. A story with cancer and pediatric cardiology will get you. #HolidayReads

In The Christmas Shoes, Nathan prayed for a miracle that didn‘t come. In The Christmas Blessing, Nathan finds himself in need of another miracle when the woman he loves grows sick. He questions whether he is cut out to be a doctor. If you want to be the best, find someone to pace yourself against.

It gave me chills, shed a few tears, and overall finished with that warm feeling we often search for in a Christmas tale, faith.

Last year I read The Christmas Shoes and instantly added the sequel, The Christmas Blessing, to my TBR list. Today I purchased it at my local library bookstore for $1. #bookhaul #christmas

Writerinthedesert I admittedly have watched more Sherlock than I have read. However I am a fan of Edgar Allen Poe‘s The Murder in the Rue Morgue. @Richryan52 6y
Richryan52 I too am a fan of Poe. But easier to write Holmes 6y

#BookNDinner! I made @MrBook a treat after his long workday: crispy-on-the-outside—tender-and-juicy-on-the-inside baked chicken, mushroom rice vermicelli, broccoli florets, and the rest of the wine for me. MMMmmmm 😋! That hit the spot! This has been another presentation of: #MrBookBookBabeKitchen. Happy reads & happy eats!
