This was a pretty excellent, detailed retelling of The Fall of the House of Usher. I believe it‘s supposed to be YA but it seemed more like general fiction to me. A very atmospheric read.

I haven‘t ready any horror or anything too scary in years, but I found this #HauntedHouse book that is a retelling of Poe‘s Fall of the House of Usher. Seems interesting! #LitsySpringBreak

I love Edgar Allan Poe, and since this book was inspired by some of his work, I had to read it. This did not let me down, it's so dark and eerie, with gothic themes and such a weird atmosphere through it all, it captured me.
The cover is beautiful, and even though you shouldn't judge a book by its cover, I feel that it counts.

Meh, it's weird. I don't like how it skips around by her age randomly. The concept is interesting.

Madeline awakes in a coffin. And she was put there by her own twin brother. But how did it come to this?

The house itself is alive, and it will never let Madeline escape, driving her to madness just as it has all of her ancestors. But she won't let it have her brother, Roderick. She'll do everything in her power to save him, even if it means bringing the house down around them.

Inspired by Poe's House of Usher. So it's gotta be good!

This was one of those 'Right book, right time' situations. I loved the creepy atmosphere and the fast pacing of the chapters. That ending may have broken a small piece of me.
