Pickpick

Can you guy please recommend some great science fiction novels for me.

It's one genre I haven't read much of.

Cheers thanks all.

Texreader It‘s not my genre either but I loved: 6y
shadowspeak17 This is a collection of SF short stories that are good. 6y
Texreader I also loved some of the books I‘ve read by James Hogan. I skip the extreme science details, but his storytelling was gorgeous: 6y

Texreader I‘m reading and listening to this one, which is amazing thus far: 6y
BillBlume I love Emily Suvada‘s This Mortal Coil. It‘s YA, but not angsty YA. 6y
lucylovestoread I love this book, also known as Tiger Tiger. It's classic sci fi and I think a really great introduction to the genre 6y
lucylovestoread Ender's Game is another great piece of classic sci fi that I could not put down. I also really enjoyed the film although I think I'm in the minority there. 6y
DivaDiane My favorite author and a good introduction to her work. 5y

Of course I did. I‘d be rather off put if I had been assigned another genre. Thanks @AngelErin for posting this! https://www.buzzfeed.com/rinri/if-you-were-a-book-what-genre-would-you-be-3c8kx?...

AngelErin Yw! I saw some others post it and I had to do it too. I love quizzes 😀 6y
readinginthedark I got Literary! Not sure I ever feel paralyzed with uncertainty, though. 😆 6y

I need you all for a bitchiness check. I wrote this in response to dudebro in my publishing class who suggested that in order to attract more female readers he should add romance to his stories. Does this make my point clear without flat out telling him that he‘s being sexist?

Abby-J To be clear. I love me some romance. I just don‘t appreciate reductive dudes. 6y
Bostonmomx2 Well to be fair...maybe ONE way to attract more is the romance aspect. If he isn‘t assuming it‘s the only way. But even if he had the hottest romance ever in his stories, I wouldn‘t read it. I don‘t like sci-fi. 6y
Eyelit I think you stated it very well! 6y
Abby-J @Eyelit Thank you. I heard back from my classmate today. He wasn‘t offended, but he found it mind blowing that he could write female characters that “were just like regular people.” 🙄 6y
Eyelit Dang. So he really did need that feedback from you. Hope he takes it seriously! 6y
