16 posts | 10 read | 15 to read
While all of the women writers featured here have written books connected to Paris, their personal stories of the city are wildly different. These Parisian memoirs range from laugh-out-loud funny to wistfully romantic to thoughtfully sombre and reflective. Perfect for armchair travellers and veterans of Parisian pilgrimages alike, readers will delight in these brand-new tales from their most beloved authors.

Just lovely! If you love Paris, have been to Paris, want to go to Paris, or are planning a trip to Paris, this is a must read. Short essays, written by female authors who have traveled to and written about Paris. Digestible and quick. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 ❤️📚

I‘m headed to France in just under 7 weeks for a riverboat cruise down the Seine. My reading over the next few weeks will be books set in some of the places we will be visiting. We start and end in Paris, so I‘m starting my reading adventure there, too! ❤️📚🇫🇷

jewright That sounds amazing! I really want to visit France someday. 2y
Elizabeth2 @jewright it‘s my 50th birthday present from my best friend/ex sister-in-law. Such a generous, amazing thing she‘s doing! She‘s also a travel agent (who scored an amazing deal for this trip) and an experienced traveler. I can‘t wait to spend 2 weeks with her traveling France! ❤️ We picked all of our excursions a few weeks ago! So excited! 2y
Texreader That‘s so awesome!! My son is there right now on a school trip. Maybe someday I‘ll get to go, too! Enjoy!!! 2y

I got this book recently at B&N. It just shouted at me to get it ☺️. It's a collection of essays from several authors on their personal experiences in Paris. Now I just want to go back... #uncannyoctober #Acityinthetitle

Overall really fun-I love Paris and it was fun to read about it from so many different perspectives. Also, it was very hard not to buy myself a one way ticket....

Book 3 of #vacation complete. It's a rainy day today but these essays from writers like Lauren Willig, Eleanor Brown, Maggie Shipstead, Paula McClain, J Courtney Sullivan, and more made me feel like I was strolling through the streets of Paris on a sunny spring day. Really enjoyable travel #essays. A good summer read.

20+ hours of #24in48 done.

I have visited Paris twice and always love talking to people about their feeling for the city. Everyone has such different experiences from instant love to complete hatred. This book of 18 essays does a wonderful job of capturing varied Parisian stories. It made me want to break out my passport and board a flight immediately even while reminding me of less than perfect moments from my trips.

TrishB Went a few weeks ago and loved it ❤ 7y

Mehso-so

Somewhere between 🤘🏻and so-so. I ultimately went w/ so-so because the collection began to feel very homogenous to me at about the 50% mark - overwhelmingly white/cis-het. Brown gives kind of a mea culpa in the Introduction - they only chose bestselling women writers w/books are set/in about Paris that it was a limited pool. Overall, this is a nice collection about traveling/living in/thinking about Paris (I particularly liked Susan Vreeland's).

Since I did so much better than anticipated in June here is the July #TBR I threw together last night. A few are for #litsyatoz and a few are books I want to read so that I can pass them on to other people. #sizzlinsummerreads

Really enjoyed listening to the audiobook version. Various essays take you back, or help you daydream, about the city of lights.
