Another Woman's Husband
Another Woman's Husband | Gill Paul
USA Today bestselling author of The Secret Wife ANOTHER WOMAN'S HUSBAND is the latest gripping novel from Gill Paul. 'A triumph' Dinah Jefferies on The Secret Wife. Two women, divided by time, bound by a secret... 1911. Aged just fifteen, Mary Kirk and Wallis Warfield meet at summer camp. Their friendship will survive heartbreaks, continents, and the demands of the English crown, until it is shattered by one unforgivable betrayal... 1997. Kendall's romantic break in Paris with her fiance is interrupted when the taxi in front crashes suddenly. The news soon follows: Princess Diana is dead. Trying to forget what she has witnessed, Kendall returns home, where the discovery of a long-forgotten link to Wallis Simpson, the Duchess of Windsor, will lead her to the truth of a scandal which shook the world... Richly imagined and beautifully written, ANOTHER WOMAN'S HUSBAND is a moving novel about two women thrust into the spotlight, haunted by love and loss.

The storyline flips from the 1910s to the 1990s, from Rachel's life as the owner of a shop specializing in early 20th century clothing to a Mary Kirk who is the best friend and confidante of Wallis Simpson. A complicated time when women were emerging from Victorian morés and realizing their own self worth. The death of Princess Diana is a side note in this book. ⬇️

Crazeedi How women in the pre WW1 Era are to look and act figures prominently in the book. Though fictional, much of the information is gathered from facts known about Wallis and her becoming Edward's wife. 2y

Two storylines connected by Wallis Simpson and Princess Diana! How could I not read (listen to) this?!? Quite engaging. I felt the 1930-40s storyline was more interesting and detailed. The 1990s storyline just supported it. 3/5👑s

Thanks for the tag @Eggs 😁
1. Tagged! Goes between a couple in Paris in 1997 who witnessed Diana‘s car crash and the 1930s with Wallis Simpson from the eyes of her best friend. I‘m terrible at synopses 😬.
2. 👍
3. Historical mysteries and cozy mysteries

I love historical fiction, and I‘m also slightly obsessed by the British Monarchy. This book weaves a glorious tale about two women who rocked the traditions of the Crown, Wallis and Diana, and how they were connected, in a way. Longer than it needed to be, but told a really good story, and now I want to know all the things about Wallis Simpson.

Theshadedbuffalo @Trashcanman you‘re so sweet to think of me, George. I‘m doing well. A few weird dreams here and there, but I‘ve come to terms with it. ❤️❤️ 5y
Trashcanman Well that is good to hear, those things take awhile. Hope today has been kind. 😊🤗❤️ 5y

Really liked this one! Two narratives being told in (mostly) alternating chapters, linking Wallis Simpson to Diana Spencer (Princess Di). The back and forth wasn‘t distracting, and the story telling was such that I often couldn‘t decide which story I wanted to follow the most! I also stopped many times to see what I could verify as being fact rather than fiction, and was amazed at how much ‘reality‘ was actually presented in the book. ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

If you have an unhealthy fascination with the royals like I do, you should check out this book about Wallis Simpson through her best friend‘s eyes and about the crash that killed Princess Diana from the perspective of a woman who was in the Alma Tunnel that night. Very good. Enjoyed how the connection was made between Wallis Simpson and Princess Diana even though they were completely different woman they still had a profound effect on the monarchy. I enjoyed this book but it felt different as one of the main characters was a real person so I already knew how the story ended so it spoilt the story a bit (the diana segments were told from the viewpoint of someone who witnessed her accident)
