When Neve inherits a delipidated cottage from a stranger who she witnesses commit suicide she thinks her life may just be changing for the better..but why does the cottage have bars on the windows....who was the stranger trying to protect herself from? An atmospheric read with a plot twist I didn't anticipate. Best read alone in the dark ⭐⭐⭐⭐ #cassgreen #inacottageinawood #tea_sipping_bookworm #bookstagram #bookqueen #greatreads #litsy

Spooky, fast-paced and engrossing. Interesting lead character - strong willed but young and disorganized. I enjoyed this book.

Language's nice and fluid. The book doesn't show any interest matter yet, considering I haven't read much, but still keeps its ground. Though the book name is kind of ridiculous.

Lord.
I really hate to give bad reviews , but there were so many things wrong with this book. The writing style seemed too simple, almost juvenile. And the author threw in just about every cliche imaginable. One good thing - I finished it. Almost bailed a few times, but I was hoping it would have a decent resolution. Unfortunately the ending was just as boring as the rest of the book.

GypsyKat Bummer! I hate being disappointed with books. 🙁 6y

And another great ebook deal if you‘re a fan of suspense and like the tension in horror movies without the horror.

This was a very quick read. A good, creepy thriller with some twists that I saw coming but one that I most definitely didn‘t! Definitely worth a read!

I really enjoyed Cass Green‘s previous novel The Woman Next Door so I had to include her latest, In a Cottage in a Wood, in my Spring reading. This one‘s quite a bit different in style but still just as gripping, with a lot of atmosphere and terrific sense of place.

Good morning Littens! Starting off day 5 of my vacation with coffee and a thrilling read! It snowed all day yesterday, so I‘m looking forward to heading into town (to the biggest book store I‘ve seen in 8 months) and seeing some friends/family!

Bklover Sounds like a wonderful day! Have fun, and don‘t forget to drink some cocoa! 7y

Hour 13 read 5 and some caffeine! I‘m not barreling through, but I do have a work thing tomorrow so I need enough of a head start before sleep to make up for that.

I have to say, ALL of my reads for this ‘thon have been excellent! I can‘t wait for more from Margaret Killjoy and I a, super glad I went outside my comfort zone and tried some comics - Misfit City rocks! #24in48 @24in48

Just inhaled half this novel. It starts like a British women's fic funny novel which I love and then the suspense starts and I can't stop turning the page. (TW: suicide)

Pamwurtzler That sounds good. When will it be released? Thanks! 7y

I have always loved stories of abandoning life for a country cottage and this lived up to my expectations admirably. The taut sense of unease escalated brilliantly and, although I had guessed the ‘whodunnit‘ aspect, the final twist caught me totally unawares.

Popped into town for some ice (I say popped in but it‘s actually an hours drive). So taking the opportunity to touch base with a Litsy.

I'd already made up my mind about getting this audiobook with my next free credit. The day finally came but my free credit didn't appear to be working, so I went ahead and bought it.

Four hours later, my free credit appeared 🙄

On the plus side, I have another to choose!

It was alright. I think it had a lot more potential and I feel Green downplayed some of the characters a bit. With a bit more, it could easily be a chilling tale. Please read my full review and follow my blog at http://theghastlygrimoire.com/2017/09/20/book-review-in-a-cottage-in-a-wood-by-c...

jpmcwisemorgan Thank you! You‘re review helped me out. I think I‘ll wait to read this one, especially given how many books I have hoarded away. (edited) 7y

Still reading this one. It is keeping me interested at least. My boyfriend and I talked and are going to try and work things out (but he's GOT to get counseling). I've known him for more than a decade, and this was the first time I've ever seen his temper fly off the handle like that, so I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt this one time and one time only. Not moving him back in though, or in with him yet. Other mom's #poofle #dogsoflitsy

athorne I meant #poodle! But that typo is too cute to fix. 7y
Mamashep Good luck and keep strong! 7y

athorne @Mamashep I will! Like I said, if it wasn't for our history I wouldn't make the exception. I needed a week to think things over and decide if this was what I wanted to do, so I went to visit family in Oklahoma. I think we were confined to too small a place and with both of us having manic highs and lows, it was bound to happen. He didn't hit me, and if he ever does I'm gone faster than he will blink an eye. 7y
CocoReads Good luck. It seems like a good plan, counseling not moving in right away. 7y
athorne @CocoReads It seems the safest way to go. 7y
