Journalist Jack McEvoy is being downsized. Determined to go out in a Pulitzer-winning blaze of glory, he engages with a murder case to write something sensational to prove his worth. But when he finds himself on a serial killer's radar, only the actions of FBI profiler (and ex-flame) Rachel Walling save him from the killer's trap.
Investigation is pacy, but the reader knows too much too early, but also not enough about the killer to satisfy me.
I'm not sure if it's the "reporter pretending to be a detective" theme or the main characters having a job then not having a job then having a job again (maybe) or if it's just the large number of flights to and from different places that I find tiring. It's not a bad story, and the data security piece is interesting enough, but how everything unfolds feels a little tedious.
Journalist Jack McEvoy is back - though he's just been laid off and tasked with training his replacement. Determined to get one final "F you" scoop to publish on his way out the door, he starts investigating one murder only to stumble on another under-the-radar serial killer, and teams back up with FBI agent Rachel Walling along the way. It was pretty far fetched and convenient at times. Good overall but definitely not my fav Connelly. 3.5 ⭐️
Up early for that Quiet Reading Time before everyone else wakes, cruising through the second book in the Jack McEvoy series. Happy New Year to all my booky friends!
Not the biggest fan of this book despite being a heavy Connelly fan. The plot was fine, but multiple editing errors and poor grammar in some spots ruined the immersion. There also seemed to be a lot of build-up and not a lot of the actual climax. You don‘t get any answers until the last few pages, and even then it feels unsatisfying. Not a fan of the direction it took, and would probably not recommend this book to anyone.
Daughter and I at my nieces hen party in Portugal last year (a different world!). Wedding due in 6 weeks, who knows.
Tagged book will be next 😁
Nothing, need some down time.

Another Michael Conmolly win for me.
Up to date now on Bosch, Jack McEvoy and his new one. Guess I'm starting on the Mickey Haller series now!
#currentlyreading with some lunch.
Probably only reading today as straight out to watch football later.
Good read. Started a little slow but picked up quickly. Nice murder mystery.
2017 #45 mystery audio it was not bad nor was it good. At the end I just felt nothing. I would pan it because it didn't suck, it just was blah. +
