We found a huge collection of boxcar children books at a used bookstore this weekend. I used to love these!

Couldn‘t find my old copy of book 1 in the Boxcar series. When did they change the cover? I‘m feeling a certain kind of way about it. #educator

Zelma Oh wow, that cover seems so wrong. (Though I totally understand updating covers.) 7y
Pelican71 I agree @Zelma especially for children‘s books. I say this as I‘m still looking for my old book. #nostalgia 7y

I got a few of these today to reread this weekend. When I was a kid I used to looove this series. Does anyone‘s kiddos still read these or was this a thing just in the 80s and 90s? I look forward to reading these. Who else loved The Boxcar children? What other series did you love as a kid? I wanna hear it! 😁😉😘

TheBookkeepersApprentice I loved this series as a kid! I got to meet the author and have some of my books signed by her! 7y
Craftylikefox Oh I LOVED this series when I was a kid. 7y
Phlamboyant I have such fond memories of these books from when I was a kid. My daughter took a hard pass on them, though. 😕 7y

LazyDays I wanted to live in a boxcar💕 7y
LitLogophile I‘ve actually never read these! I was obsessed with this series though 😂 7y
BethM I loved them! 7y
AmberWB I LOVED these!!! 7y
Lcsmcat My kids read these. And my sister was in a writing group with one of the women who wrote them. Gertrude Warner is a pseudonym and different books in the series were written by different writers. 7y
tjwill I liked these when I was a kid, in the 90s. Did you know they just recently came out with updated versions? I got a couple but haven‘t tried reading them yet. I‘ve been trying to get my daughter interested in them. 7y
MissAimz_55 I loved them! I also read the Babysitters club and the Hardy Boys 7y
ErickaS_Flyleafunfurled I read them as a kid in the early 80s and then read the first one to my son. My fave as a kid was Ramona Quimby, though! Timeless! 7y
Beachesnbooks Yesss The Boxcar Children!!! I remember them always having bread and milk 😂 I also loved The Babysitters Club and the Animorphs as a kid. 7y
Blueberry Did you know they were first printed in the 40's! 7y
TheHeartlandBookFairy I read The Boxcar series when I was a kid, probably in the very early 70s. I then read them to my kids in the 90s 😊 I loved the series as did my children 😁 7y
KathyWheeler I loved these books when I was a kid too. 7y
SleepyDragon I knew of these, but didn't read them. I wasn't all that into series reading back then. I read a lot of Judy Blume, and classics like Narnia, Tolkien, and The Borrowers books. 7y
minkyb My daughter read these in the 1990‘s! 7y
BookaholicNatty @Blueberry noooooo way!!!!!! That‘s crazy! I had no idea!!! 7y
BookaholicNatty @tjwill oh my goodness!!!!!! (As I fire up amazon to order one lol) 😂😂 I think they did something like that with baby sitters club too (edited) 7y
euphemy I don't know of these but I used to read The Hardy Boys/ Nancy Drew mysteries as a kid. 7y
tjwill @BookaholicNatty Yes, Baby-Sitters Club has graphic novels drawn by Raina Telgemeier, and they are the same stories. I‘m not sure how many have been released so far. 7y
Jess_Read_This Gahhh!! This was one of my favorite series as a kid!!! I need to reread a few now.. 7y
MelissaSue81 I never read them but my 6 year old has read a few (she found one in the school library, or maybe her teacher read them one first) and she really loves them. 7y
Jencarter I loved these as a kid and read a bunch of them. My kids weren‘t as impressed but they seemed to like the first one. I used to read the Trixie Belden mystery books whenever I could get my hands on one. And the Choose Your Own Adventures books! Loved those because you could re-read them making different choices and they‘d end differently every time! ❤️ 7y

1. I read the boxcar children series and goosebumps over and over!
2. I either had my rainbow brite doll or my care bear cousin elephant with me.
3. Every once in a great while I could pick out a frozen dinner, kid cuisine with the brownie as dessert.
4. Cookies!!
# manicmonday @JoScho

JoScho Kids Cuisine was my jam! 7y
Craftylikefox @JoScho I would get so excited for that dinner! I thought it was the best food ever, like fancy food. I am still tempted by them now. But that‘s more nostalgia. 😊 7y
