I have some 'light' reading for the next couple weeks according to the librarian. Can't wait to dig in! I do love history books and classics.
This book has me in stitches. "That kills me."
This was just so so for me. I liked the setting but disliked how she kept calling the head of the house 'him' and how every man was always staring at her.
#readathon #dewys24hourreadathon I enjoyed this book and reading about this wonderful country's origins and it's development over the years. Not the best picture because my light was casting a glare.
Got these at a yard sale for $10. Can't wait to put them on my bookshelf! I have never read Stephen King yet. Which should I start with first? I was thinking #Carrie since that was his first novel #YardSaleFinds #StephenKing I'm #booked #booked2018
While I can have my mornings to myself, it is enough. I think it no sacrifice to join occasionally in evening engagements. Society has claims on us all; and I profess myself one of those who consider intervals of recreation and amusement as desirable for everybody.'
I love this quote by Mary regarding the ball in ch. 17, page 129. #reversereadathon #readathon #prideandprejudice #janeaustin #24hourreadathon #reversereadathon
Based on a real life couple from 1760s England and France. Repetitive at times. Thought I would like it since it was based on real events but I didn't.
Read this for a different challenge. I've decided that I really don't like romantic books. It was a historic romance but still didn't care for it. Girl has an arranged marriage to a Man she's never met by her stepmother. Girl runs away and meets the man she was to marry under pretentious names. She works for him. Later finds out he was the one, arguments but of course end up together. On my Kindle since 2013.
"You've done the tear duct dance already" - Amos Decker to Natalie. I loved this line and may have to use it sometime. I didn't realize this was 3rd in a series by I thought it fine for a stand alone read. It had a twist on the mystery in which I didn't see coming. Though 81 chapters, they were short and easy to read.
Quite disturbing how this nurse got away with what he did to many patients and for 16 years at 9 🏥. I do recommend this 📖.
I am learning something different with each Titanic book I have. In the middle of this one. It includes pictures on each page.
Loving this book so far. It mentions so many passengers on the 🚢: so many that lived and those that didn't. It is like a narrative timeline.
"And yet I don't suppose that ten percent of the lower orders live with their own wives." Lord Henry to Basil in the unedited version of #APictureofDorianGray #OscarWilde
#Booked2018 Read for the cozy mystery prompt. This was my first Agatha Christie book and I loved this one. Great mystery with Miss Marple and The Body in the Library in hardcover too!
#booked2018 I really wanted to enjoy this book. I did not. It was basically a monolog of her life instead of making people feel better about themselves. I can see talking about some of her background but should have had a different title like 'Surviving life as a fat girl: My biography". I found some parts gross: like talking of her dogs period, exploits from camp, etc. I'm not a prude, can take a good joke but her jokes were not good. My opinion.
Loved this leather, illustrated hard copy of this classic. I would think this should quality for #prompt6 #UnconventionalRomance #booked2018
Sad, Bittersweet, Courage, Resilient and an Outstanding 📖 I highly recommend to everyone. From moving to California, being a delinquent to Olympic runner in 1936 then joining the military, lost in the Pacific Ocean for a couple months then being captured by the Japanese makes this such a compelling book. Five stars all the way. #booked2018 Read for prompt #1 featuring an Olympic Sport
"It was a dark and stormy night" #booked2018 #sciencefiction #childrensclassic
This was just ok for me. Definitely unique but seemed to jump around which made it confusing. Some things are explained while some things are not.
This book had its moments. 😁 for prompt #5 #feministclassic #booked2018
