All the Beautiful Sinners
All the Beautiful Sinners | Stephen Graham Jones

Nazareth, Texas Deputy Sheriff Jim Doe plunges into a renegade manhunt after the town's sheriff is gunned down. But unbeknownst to him, the suspect--an American Indian--holds chilling connections to the disappearance of Doe's sister years before. And the closer Doe gets to the fugitive's trail, the more he realizes that his own involvement in the case is hardly coincidental. A descendant of the Blackfeet Nation himself, Doe keeps getting mistaken for the killer he's chasing. And when the FBI's finest three profilers descend on the case, Doe suspects the hunt has only just begun. But beneath the novel's pyrotechnic plotting, the deeper psychic cadences of Stephen Graham Jones's prose take hold. His specific imagery and telling detail coalesce into the literary equivalent of an Edward Hopper painting. But like the other seminal works in the genre ("Fight Club, Red Dragon"), "All The Beautiful Sinners" will unnerve you, and it will then send you back to page one to experience its mysteries all over again.

Pickpick

This book was like a fever dream of serial killer craziness, with a terrifying and confusing road trip, topped off with devastating tornadoes. I‘m still a little thrown by the ending, but this was an awesome read.

Photo includes the back of the book, solely because I‘m using it for a challenge prompt (author photo on back) and not at all because SGJ is my number one author crush. 😍

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Also my #DoubleSpin for October.

Ladygodiva7 He‘s easy on the eyes!!! 👀 2y

SamAnne @sprainedbrain me too! He liked one of my review on Goodreads and I just about swooned 2y
sprainedbrain @SamAnne can relate! He reblogged a couple of my reviews of his books and I nearly expired. 😂 2y
Billypar I'm almost finished The Only Good Indians- really enjoying it. No hunky author photo on my edition, just that eerie elk on the cover 😅 2y
sprainedbrain @Billypar oh I love that book! I think this is the only one of his I‘ve read with a hunky photo, and it‘s a pretty old copy. 😂 2y

Hey, round 13 group H friends! Here are some of my options for our horror round. Have you already read any of them? Any that you would rather NOT read? Any that stick out as really appealing?

I will link to each in the comments… Slewfoot and All the Beautiful Sinners are both over 400 pages, so if that‘s too long I can find some others… I have a huge horror tbr. 😉

I was tagged by @cobwebmoth for #bookcolortag and wow! Brown books are hard to come by in my library. 😳

Please use your generous imagination and accept these books in various shades of brownish colors. 😂

It doesn't look like @Captivatedbybooks @Jennick2004 @Gissy @LibrarianRyan or @UwannaPublishme have played color tag yet, so if you lovelies want to, please show me your black or purple stacks!

LibrarianRyan I will show you a purple stack when I get home even though I already did a pink one. Purple is easier. 🤓😜 7y
cobwebmoth Nice stack! ☺ 7y
sprainedbrain @LibrarianRyan you don't have to... I don't want to over color tag you! 😂 7y

I have given up all pretense of sticking to that 'buy less books' resolution. 😂

PurpleyPumpkin Ah, that resolution is SO overrated. 😂 8y
ohyeahthatgirl I changed mine a little to "buy only diverse books, check all others out from the library". Stephen Graham Jones is amazing, you couldn't pass it up! 8y
