Loved, loved this short story collection. Read this for the Read Harder Challenge where all POV characters are POC. Read this in one sitting - engaging characters and stories about the immigrant (middle eastern) experiences. Highly recommend this collection

I was taking this in the car with me when youngest kid says incredulously, "You're reading a book about Muhammad Ali?" He seemed relieved when I said no because it reinforced his image of me, whatever that may be. What I didn't tell him was that because I'm a reader, I could and would totally read a book about Muhammed Ali.

After the horror of the 'Muslim ban' I decided that I would read one book by/about Muslims each month. My January pick was this fantastic short story collection. Randa Jarrar is a phenomenal writer and some of these stories are among the best I've read. It is a slim collection, but don't let that fool you into thinking it's not incredible because it certainly is.

This is a collection of short stories focusing on Muslim women and men in different circumstances. I've read a story about a tightrope walker wanting the moon after a failed attempt when she was younger, a woman who makes some discoveries about her sexuality, and a woman dealing with her pregnancy and not-so-great relationship with her boyfriend. I'm liking the variety so far!
