I really like Charlie Holmberg as an author. I hope she continues to do more books in this series/collection.

A new main character in the world Holmberg created in the Paper Magician. Entertaining, lighter read in an engaging, creative world.

This was pretty good! I had liked but not loved the Paper Magician trilogy so I was pleasantly surprised to be so hooked by the new narrator Alvie, a Polymaker (magician who enchants plastics) in training. There were some places where I didn‘t remember enough detail from the first books but overall this was an interesting enough plot set in a world whose magic system I always enjoyed.

I. Love. This. Series. This book is a great addition, and I honestly want to read approximately five hundred more books set in this universe. It‘s so good I can‘t even stand it. 11/10 definitely recommend 👌🏼

This was a fun easy candy bar read. Not as good as the Paper Magician in the same world, but a nice bit of entertainment for the night.

Great little read!

Alvie is a magician from the United States circa 1904, and is chosen to be an apprentice to a highly skilled plastic magician. While this isn‘t a continuation of Mg Thane‘s story- the couple does make an appearance!

This book had all the qualities of an amazing series- adventure, mischief, misdirection, friendships, courage and love. I can‘t wait to see what Alvie does next!

This is a spinoff of The Paper Magician Trilogy, with a focus on new character Alvie. She is less proper with some more American tendencies but just as smart as her predecessor, with more mechanical inclinations and tends to think before she acts. Most of the time. Alvie & her mentor Mg. Marion Praff developed a great bond over their passion for making discoveries in the newer field of Polymaking. A super enjoyable installment in the series.
