Mesu Andrews brings the book of Daniel to life in this exciting tale. Not content to have her characters molded perfectly, without flaw, for her readers to wish they could emulate, she carves them out of flesh and blood and makes them fully human.

Mesu has a wonderful gift to make Bible characters come to life and she certainly hit it out of the park with Daniel! The background and history of what was going on in the Middle East socially, economically, historically, was very interesting. Mesu has a wonderful gift to make Bible characters come to life and she certainly hit it out of the park with Daniel!
This is an incredible retelling of the story of Daniel. The intricate history that is woven into the story teaches much while carrying you along in the plot. Giving Daniel a wife is a stroke of genius. This is not a story to be missed.
This was the other book that occupied my long run this morning. Andrews presents a fictionalized account of Daniel‘s experience in Babylon, and it is excellent. I loved it.
(I received a free copy of this book. All opinions expressed are my own.)

I loved envisioning Daniel as more human and less perfect than I had before.
What has the sin of pride done in your life? Have you felt the Lord's discipline to change your heart? What a joy to know that through Christ our sins, even those of pride, can be forgiven! #OfFireandLions #OFL @MesuAndrews

I enjoyed a Facebook Live Release Party last week with Mesu Andrews. I won this Lion Coffee that arrived today. Mesu gave me this precious Willow Tree figurine titled 'Love of Learning' (open books, open minds) when she visited during the Fiction Readers Summit last year.
It's release day for Of Fire And Lions. You may have never imagined Daniel in the Lions den like this....
Of Fire and Lions is a superb novel that deftly illustrates life during the Babylonian exile. I admit to being totally mesmerized and slightly terrified the entire time I was reading. And, best of all, this novel had me doing a bit of soul searching — exactly what a Biblical novel should do!
A Hebrew Girl first tasted survival when she was able to escape death nearly seventy years ago when the Babylonians ransacked Jerusalem and took their finest as captives. She had believed she had perfected in the many years with the Magoi and the idol worshippers. She pretended with all the others in Nebuchadnezzar‘s court. Belli feels she is safe now as Daniel‘s wife and can now live.
Mesu Andrews has written another amazing story based on the contents of the Bible. Of Fire and Lions has caused me to look again at the Old Testament, just as her previous books have, and has helped me understand better a section of it. It was enjoyable enough that I had a hard time putting it down.

What a great reason to pre-order ~ to get a free book!
Currently #amreading this and enjoying it so far. Happy to be a member of Mesu Andrews‘ BFF book launch team. #Biblicalfiction
I've never considered that Daniel was anything but dutiful to King Nebuchadnezzar. Yet, as a Jewish boy, he would have studied the writings of Prophets. He would have witnessed prophecies of the most bitter kind come true in front of and to him. Yet, he clung to God and stood out in a way that we still recognize as brave.
A BOGO offer when you pre-order Of Fire and Lions
Another wonderful read by Mesu Andrews! Of Fire And Lions is a story of faith & survival told from the POV of the prophet Daniel and his wife Abigail/Belili (fictional). A must read for historical/biblical fiction fans!

Daniel certainly endured great trials but I wonder what his thoughts entertained during the life in between the miracles.
In order to understand how desperately God wants a relationship with humans, sometimes we have to imagine what might have happened in between the chapters of the Bible. Mesu Andrews wrote about a very human Daniel and a less monstrous Nebuchadnezzar than I had assumed of before. Friendships and family dynamics were portrayed in a way that made the hero Daniel much more real to me.
I was thrilled to receive this book mail today!
This is the tough part about being on more than one launch team ~ plenty to read but I want to savour each story so I refuse to read more than one at a time.
