Christmas Crumble
Christmas Crumble: An Agatha Raisin Short Story | M. C. Beaton
8 posts | 12 read | 4 to read
M.C. Beaton's Christmas Crumble ... a Christmas tale that's holly, jollyand deadly, by golly... At home alone for the holidays, Agatha Raisin decides to host a dinner party for the elder residents in her Cotswold village of Winter Parva. Agatha's never been much of a homemaker, but she's dead-set on making this the perfect holiday for the "crumblies," as she affectionately calls them. She's decorated a tree while fending off her cats Hodge and Boswell, and even made a (lumpy) Christmas pudding in between swigs of rum. But when Agatha dumps the pudding on the head of the local self-proclaimed lotharioan eighty-five year old with a beer belly and fingers like sausageshis death by dessert proves more than a trifle as mysteries mount higher than the season's snowfall. So much for trying to do good by her neighbors. Now Agatha needs no less than a Christmas miracle to get herself out of this one... Deck the halls with boughs of folly this Christmas with Agatha Raisin, a modern-day Miss Marple, who Publishers Weekly calls "an absolute gem!"

I‘ve read all of the Agatha Raisin books in the regular series but somehow never got to this one. I usually listen to the audiobooks but I read this one with my eyeballs & it was pretty funny. The usual Agatha hijinks and a dead body or two. 4⭐️ 80 points

An “in between” short story featuring Agatha Raisin that did not quite work. Agatha hosts a Christmas party for a few seniors, and one dies. Agatha is then concerned about the aftermath…vague, so I don‘t give away too many details.

Short stories are very hit or miss for me, often lacking in development and detail. This story, while it hits the plot points, seems a bit convoluted, more than a usual Agatha Raisin story. Oh well!

So, didn‘t know this was a 30 page short story and goodreads didn‘t show what number or .5 number book this was in the Series. So I read it… thinking what harm can a 30 page story do to me when I‘ve only read 3-4 Agatha Raisin stories… apparently it can spoil a lot 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️

Super short read - this was two chapters long. Enjoyable , but not earth shattering. 3/5

#WinterGames #MerryReaders #HolidayRead - a reread of this fun short story. I love Agatha Raisin (cosy crime), her inept, but ultimately correct detections are a wonderful read

Linsy I had fun with this one too! 5y

This was a riot! More hilarious antics from the fabulous Agatha Raisin — this time of a short, holiday variety. 😆
