All the Truth That's In Me
All the Truth That's In Me | Julianna Berry

ALL THE TRUTH THAT'S IN ME is many things. It is a true romance, a story of desperate yearning and unrequited love. It's a page-turning mystery full of twists and turns that will keep you guessing until the very end. But most of all, it's an empowering drama about a girl's journey from victim to hero. Judith can't speak. Ever since the horrifying trauma that left her best friend dead and Judith without her tongue, she's been a pariah in her close-knit community of Roswell Station; even her own mother won't look her in the eye. All Judith can do is silently pour out her thoughts and feelings to the love of her life, the boy who's owned her heart as long as she can remember - even if he doesn't know it - her childhood friend, Lucas. But when Roswell Station is attacked by enemies, long-buried secrets come to light . . . and Judith's world starts to shift on its axis. Before she knows it, Judith is forced to choose: continue to live in silence, or recover her voice, even if what she has to say might change her world, and the lives around her, forever.

So this wasn‘t what I was expecting- it‘s a stream of consciousness style - which I don‘t care for. I was expecting a thriller, especially because of the cover, but it was not, so it fell flat for me. If you‘re into the stream of consciousness stuff, you might like it. But I did finish my #bookspin book before the end of the month!😁📚📖 @TheAromaofBooks

TheAromaofBooks At least you got it checked off!!! 4y

A little behind, but here is my #bookspinbingo board! The tagged book is my #bookspin, and my #doublespin is So This Is Love. The F‘s are the free spaces and I just chose random books for placeholders.😁📚📖. @TheAromaofBooks

OnlyYoo Great picks! I loved the Kingdom. It had such Disney vibes 4y

This book is stunning. Judith, a teenager in a Puritan village, is kidnapped and held for two years. Eventually, her captor releases her, but first he maims her horribly and leaves Judith to contend with the aftermath as she returns to a village where her family, her love, and her sense of self have been permanently changed. (continued in comments)

UnabridgedPod Berry plays with chronology and irregular segments, dispensing Judith's story in small pieces as she struggles to find her identity in the face of her disability and her family's shame. The writing is gorgeous, and the story is incredibly compelling.

5⭐'s. I loved this book more than I thought I would! It's set in ye olden days which isn't something I read too often. A young woman that gets abducted for 2 years and gets her tongue cut out returns home. She has to live her life ignored and thought to be cursed for something she had no control over. Is there away for her to talk again?

This book is about a Puritan girl who is kidnapped by the village crazy and held captive for two years before he cuts out her tongue and sends her back. I actually liked the book, but neither of these covers evokes a single thing about the book for me.

Libby1 I have the UK copy and it‘s a lovely cover. This book was a charity shop find for me and was a delightful surprise. 7y
thebluestocking @Libby1 I just went to look it up. Is it the one with a tree and a path? I like that one much better! 7y
Libby1 It is the tree and a path. Much better, isn‘t it? 🌳 7y

#BookMail A few are from a used bookstore called 1,2,3 Books, and the rest are from #BookOutlet ? All are hardback and they were all $2 or less and Lord of the Flies was brand new and still wrapped! Even more of a surprise, one of the best things about BookOutlet, Thirteen Reasons Why was a signed edition! Same price and unexpected ? I have every letter except for "I" now, on my #LitsyAtoZChallange list.

TrishB Fab pic 😀 8y
mjdowens I need to check them out and start ordering 8y

BooksTeasAndBookishThings @mjdowens I definitely recommend it. Some are damaged so read the descriptions, but, once you start ordering they also show recommendations based on interests and then down the rabbit hole you will go 😊 8y
mjdowens LOL. I go down that rabbit hole a lot just with Thriftbooks.com🙄 8y
JayneChanger I ❤ bookoutlet. They get a lot of my money! 8y

Judith Finch is a girl growing up in a /Little House on the Prairie/-esque town called Roswell Station. Her childhood is ordinary enough until she witnesses the murder of her best friend. Her life is spared but she is hidden away for two years until she is released back into the town. Judith must face challenges such as the marriage of her longtime crush, an attack on her hometown, and identifying her kidnapper--all while being mute and illiterate

Judith is a kickass heroine cannot speak after she was attacked and her tongue was cut out. Yet fight back she does.

This book was an unexpected treat this year.

Libby1 @RealLifeReading - I always tag you but your name never shows up in blue. What am I doing wrong? 8y

Two girls disappear, but only one comes back, mute and scarred. This psychological historical thriller is fragmented, has shifting timelines, and is told in second person, but don't let that scare you off! It's intense and unforgettable, with shades of high-pitched emotions evoked by THE CRUCIBLE.

AshleeTheLibrarian I LOVED that book. I feel like that cover doesn't really give a good impression of what the book is about or the tone. 9y
misswendyd It's so good! One of those underrated gems. I agree with you re: cover for the most part, though this particular one is better than a few of the others I've seen. 9y

Want something haunting and different? this is it. It is written in second person, and tells the story of a puritanical society where a girl goes missing and comes back a mute. Thriller, historical, just phenomenal.
