pickServing the Servant is a good book. Danny Goldberg covers all the details as to how he became Nirvana‘s manager. I‘m pretty ignorant to the behind the scenes of the music industry, so while those stories were out of my realm, I found it interesting. I was mostly interested in the personal relationships more than the business end of things.

pickThis was AMAZING!!! Im really picky when it comes to someone else's personal story being told by someone else but this was Cobain's manager and he knew what he was talking about. I learned so much from this book! It sent me down a rabbit hole of Nirvana interviews and news stories when I finished.

so-soIn his memoir Nirvana's manager Danny Goldberg reflects on the last three years of Cobain's life. He offers his own point of view on what happened at that time, as well as on Cobain's legacy. Unlike most of the books and documentary film on Nirvana, Goldberg does not demonize Courtney Love.
Started listening to this before bed. Danny seems to have come into the bands life later in their career, but was a friend to them as well as a manager.

pickIt‘s clear that Goldberg loved Cobain, and he admits his writing is pretty slanted. But, this is a beautiful tribute to the legend Kurt Cobain. Chronicling Nirvana‘s career, Goldberg writes from his perspective as the band‘s manager. This book also serves as a tiny chronicle in punk and grunge music history. I want to binge Nirvana‘s music now and rewatch the music videos to glimpse the nuances discussed in this book. Nirvana fans...read this!
pick⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I honestly can‘t believe it‘s been 25 years since Cobain‘s death. His friend and former manager has penned an intimate look at the brilliant, but troubled artist during the peak of Nirvana‘s fame through his tumultuous last days. This is an honest and touching tribute, though admittedly biased (naturally). It‘s an excellent companion to the meticulously detailed Michael Azzerad biography.
Some of my fondest childhood memories include listening to my dad‘s mixed tapes on car rides...he‘d create tapes from records. Guaranteed I was one of a handful of kids in the ‘80s and early ‘90s who knew the words to many Creedence Clearwater Revival songs. To read this passage that Kurt was in a CCR cover band touched me deeply. And, of course the flannel. No wonder grunge speaks to me...

Enjoying this so far. Hard to believe Cobain has been gone 25 years.
Listening to Nirvana while I finish this book. It‘s heartbreaking to think of all of the artistic geniuses that have been lost to mental illness. 💔

Something smells like teen spirit in my office...wait, it‘s my newly arrived hold! I‘m such a 90s grunge and alt girl that I want to drop everything and read this latest bio of the late Kurt Cobain. Purchasing power at the library also means I could buy a copy for the library system to circulate.
My haul from Powell's! I have wanted "Where the crawdads sing" forever! and "Serving the Servant" is about Kurt Cobain and he was from the Pacific Northwest so I thought it was only appropriate I bought it.
It was a shock to realize that last week marked the 25th anniversary of Kurt Cobain‘s death. I drove past his childhood home (feeling too old to be doing something like that) and wondered how much sadness was for the loss of a person I never knew, how much for the loss of his music and how much for the loss of that time in my life.
In any case, here is a new book about Kurt, and a book recommended by Kurt. Think I‘ll read them both. #kurtcobain

25 years. It feels like a century, it feels like a week. Nirvana got me through my senior year, and for that I will always be grateful. It feels so strange to me because I‘m high school, I read Danny Goldberg‘s biography of Jim Morrison from cover-to-cover dozens of times. And now here we are. 🖤
Can you believe it‘s been 25 years since Kurt Cobain died? I was 15. I made sure we published an article in the school newspaper.
This book was released this week and I am rather surprised that Brooklyn Public Library doesn‘t have the ebook. Not as surprised by the same for my local library system. I put in a recommendation 🤷🏻♀️
