Maybe I'm in a funk... or just overly critical. This was just kind of underwhelming. I expected a bit more. Oh well, you know what they say, on to the next one.

LibrarianRyan I love this. But I hated that book. 8y
LeslieO @LibrarianRyan I've never read it! 8y
LibrarianRyan @LeslieO the first chapter is great because it describes a storm so bad it rips open graves. The librarian ends up in a tree. After that it is all about cars. There is a new younger librarian. 8y
LeslieO @LibrarianRyan Sounds awful. My spine poetry is just about a nap. 8y

If u follow me, probably picked up I like Richard Peck. This is the exception. The first chapter is great. A tornado rips through town destroying the grave yard and the remains of the librarian end up Hanging in a tree. The rest of the book is about car racing. This is when reading book jackets come in handy. #photodaynov2016 #plainstrainsautomobils

A day late for #librarylove but these are some quick shots of my messy class library fiction shelves (nonfiction is in another corner). I'm in the process of recataloging and barcoding all of them for checkout so several books are also missing along with the books already checked out by students. During the school year this is the library I use most!

SusanInTiburon Such abundance! 8y
Daisey @SusanInTiburon This abundance comes from many years of buying a few books at a time! Most of the books I buy are for my class library instead of adult reads. 8y

Peddler410 I wish there was a re-read option! I read this when it first came out -- now I'd like a re-read. 8y
Bookworm83 @Daisey Is there an app or website you are using to catalog ad check out your books? 8y
Daisey @Bookworm83 This year I'm trying an iPad app called Classroom Checkout. It cost a couple of dollars, but so far it is working so much better than anything else I've tried. I scan all barcodes with the iPad camera to put the books in the library and then the kids use their 4 digit code (same as they use for lunch) to log in and scan books for check out and check in. Simpler and better scanning than any other app I've tried. 8y
Bookworm83 @Daisey I'll have to check that out! I've looked and looked for a decent app and have yet to find one. Thanks! 8y
Daisey @Bookworm83 I know; this is like the 3rd or 4th app I've tried and every one has been more hassle than it was worth. Hoping this works as well for you as it has for me! 8y

Pickpick

Here Lies the Librarian is my favorite of Richard Peck's novels I've read to date. PeeWee is a charming heroine for young girls and Irene is a superb role model. Richard Peck's characters are always unforgettable.
