My poor heart had to spend a few days in recovery after that final twist.

For me, McMahon writes childhood / adolescent experiences like nobody else in the thriller / horror genre... except maybe early Stephen King. She just plain gets kids/ tweens/ teens.

I definitely enjoyed this book by Jennifer McMahon. She has yet to disappoint me. This was a very eerie story about kids who believe in fairies. But, when one of them goes missing, that belief turns into a fear that haunts them into adulthood until they unravel a twisted and creepy story about what happened many years ago. Great story and writing.

This did not end the way I thought it was going to. It had lots of twists and turns, and was a true horror story on many levels. I really liked it.

2.5 ⭐ Not my favorite McMahon, I prefer the others I have read but am glad I read this too. This felt very different from her other writings. #Cindercat

So this book was amazing! Lisa disappears in the woods land of the fairies. The ending was amazing! I‘m usually pretty good at guessing but not so with this one!

Stayed up til 3:00 to finish my last book. I‘m still in bed and getting ready to start this one. Well I did get up todo the dishes and walk the dogs. I‘m not a total bum. That‘s my squirrel watch dog in the background.

I didn't think Jennifer McMahon could outdo herself with The Winter People but boy was I wrong! This is another one I finished in one sitting. It drew me in so fast and the suspense left me at the edge of my seat reading as quickly as I could just to know what was going to happen next. I absolutely loved the supernatural aspect woven in and the ending left me completely lost for words. I recommend this again and again.

It was a great read total mind bender.

The suspense really kept me turning the pages on this one, and it was actually creepy enough that at one point I switched reading rooms so I wasn‘t alone. 😂 It was a really imaginative and entertaining read that strained credulity by the end, but was satisfying overall. A pick for storytelling and suspense, so-so for the ending. (Edit: this is probably my favorite Jennifer McMahon so far.)

This was definitely my least favorite McMahon book so far. The way the characters acted was not believable and the pieces of the puzzle never fit together right for me at the end.

I can totally relate to this 😕

Missing girl mysteries are all over the place these days. This one stands out. Extremely weird and creepy, with great atmosphere. However, as the story began wrapping up it felt painfully convoluted and certain points were pretty unbelievable. Still, it kept me guessing and I wanted to keep reading. The final few pages made it all worthwhile, with a great ending. This is my third book now by this author and I'm really enjoying her style.

This was a very unique storyline with a lot of promise. I really enjoyed most of this book until the last chapters. I was disappointed in the explanation...but, it was still enjoyable. A creepy, wild read!

Book 2 of #biblioweekend. What a crazy story! Are fairies real? Is there a dark man that haunts you and wants your first born? Just when everything seems wrapped up, more twists. This was creepy and strange, then more strange and a bit creepier.
