Dorothy is swept by a tornado from her home to the magical land of Oz. What follows is a series of adventures where she makes friends & learns the way home.

It was very sweet to revisit this. I had forgotten just how serial this story is, w/ all the little adventures. & sometimes, I want the simplistic fairy tale of good vs bad. & I loved how every chapter we see the Scarecrow be smart, the Tin Man be kind, & the Lion be courageous.🌕🌕🌕🌕🌑

Booksblanketsandahotbeverage I love those Del Rey covers. I have a few of them. 2w

Welcome! Whether you have arrived in Oz by Tornado, Rainbow, Magic Carpet, or the Nome King‘s tunnels, I am so excited to spend the next year exploring the marvelous land of Oz with you all.

We‘ve got a year before Wicked: Part Two comes out, so I‘ve doubled up June & July for the books.

I look forward to seeing all of your thoughts! 💚

Seabreeze_Reader Last night I spent an hour downloading the remaining free ebooks 3 -14, plus a 49 cent ebook compilation, plus a 99 cent audio compilation, so I think that means I'm interested in joining in. 🙂🌪️ 🧺 (edited) 1mo

Okay, okay. I really loved seeing Wicked: Part One last night, and I woke up with an idea.

Would anyone be interested in a #BuddyRead of the original 14 Oz novels starting in December and going through until Wicked: Part Two comes out next year?

The books are all in the public domain, so should be available on Project Gutenberg, Amazon has an omnibus Kindle edition for $1.49, and ThriftBooks has many inexpensive editions available.

rubyslippersreads This sounds like fun. (And I can‘t wait to see Wicked!) 1mo

Booksblanketsandahotbeverage I‘m in. I‘ve read a few before and it would be fun to read them with a group! I bought the paperback set that bound them into volumes last year. 1mo
kspenmoll I have never read the books so this buddy read intrigues me! Please add me to your posts. 1mo
Soscha I‘ve read the series through Ruth Plumly Thompson. Love it! Oz is much scarier than people realize, why I still adore the Return To Oz film from 1985. My fave character remains The Glass Cat though they seem incredibly full of themself! 🤭 HECK YES I‘d reread! (Also into Raggedy Ann & Andy though there‘s no real plotline with those.) 1mo
Chrissyreadit tag me in case i can fit it in? i own some of them. 1mo
willaful I'd enjoy it! 1mo
curiouserandcurioser @BookmarkTavern could you tag me please? I think i have all of these:) 1mo
Clare-Dragonfly I shouldn‘t (so many buddy reads already) but I definitely want to! I have read the first book multiple times but never continued the series. Thanks for pointing out the omnibus kindle edition—I‘ll probably get that. 1mo
lauraisntwilder Ooo, I've always meant to read those. I'm in! 1mo
rubyslippersreads I think I forgot to ask for a tag. If I only had a brain … 4w

This story is great for children to learn the lesson that teamwork can make any task the seems impossible much easier to complete

Lions and tigers and bears and an episode about The Wonderful Wizard of Oz... oh my! On today‘s episode of my podcast, I‘m joined by the wonderful hosts of Down the Yellow Brick Pod for a discussion about the 1900 children‘s book that inspired the classic movie that so many of us know and love. We unpack our personal experiences, discuss the author‘s racist history, and more! 💚 Link to listen in bio!
