I need a trip to the bookstore....My last book haul
Pros: great story. Slice of history little known to Americans. Strong women. Peek into culture.
Cons: too much backstory. Lots of queen bee female drama. More about Sita than the Rebel Queen of the title.
Well written, but not what I expected and I won‘t be reading any more of this author...I think I‘d rather read nonfiction accounts.
Book pet peeve: when the cover summary doesn‘t match the book. I‘m on page 265 and no sign of battle. 🙄🙄
Tried to avoid a book about court intrigue. And here I am in a book with court intrigue. 🙄 Time to skim forward to the action.
I do feel bad for those who don‘t love reading. There are other ways to experience stories, but none that I love as well.
"Books never led to trouble the way interacting with people did, and you couldn't be overly familiar with them." Mood.
"Where the world is full of a thousand colors for those who love books, I suspect it is simply black and gray to everyone else"
#30daysofreadathon 28 - Red - I have enjoyed Michelle Moran in the past, but didn't have this one. I found it at the second hand store last night. #readathon
“For nonreaders, life is simply what they touch and see, not what they feel when they open the pages of a play and are transported to the Forest of Arden or Illyria. Where the world is full of a thousand colors for those who love books, I suspect it is simply black & gray to everyone else. A tree is a tree to them; it is never a magical doorway to another world populated with beings that don‘t exist here.”

My new rainy day read 🤗

I loved this book, this was the first historical fiction book i read and made me a huge fan of the genre.
👑👑👑👑👑 I don't read nearly enough historical fiction. I could almost describe this book as 'unputdownable' but I had to put it down for things like work and sleep (because I had to go to work). One of my favourite things in stories is when women defy gender norms and that's what happens in this book. I loved this story so much. I highly recommend it to anyone who likes historical fiction and kick-ass women.
I don't know very much about India's history which made this book fascinating for me. The ending was not what I was expecting but such is life! #MilliesReadingMania2016 #CuteMalamuteAurora
A great read. The plot alone appealed to me so much that I could not stop reading. However, the imagery and characters entwined with the plot took me into India bringing me new cultural exposures. I am purchasing other books by Michelle Moran and cannot wait to read them.
Continued the treat yourself theme from earlier today and dropped by Barnes and Noble. I can't wait to dive into these! Was also super excited to find this cute little Jiji toy. 🐱
Found these two at a discount store today! I read Rebel Queen last year and loved it! Michelle Moran has some pretty stellar novels and this one is no different. I've heard a lot about Hyperbole, so I'm excited to get started on it.
