A collection of stories tackling a variety of themes centered around a small bar right by the Mexican border. It touches on many things that will be familiar to those who have struggled with their identities; split between two cultures, their sexuality, sobriety and addiction, love and hate. Each character tries to find themselves, staring over the edge of a fall they don't know how they'll survive at the end of it. Squidapus really felt this one.

Well-written short stories that offer unique male voices. I really liked Sometimes the Rain. I wish the stories were linked a little more than just through location, but I recommend this to short story fans.

I can never seem to pace myself with Saenz's novels. Something about his writing commands me to drop everything and read them in a day. This one is no different. This collection of first person narrated short stories was excellent.
