pickLike a silly, funny version of the 80s TV show Friday the 13th, with a guileless pastry chef who can sense magic objects helping a handsome magic detective guy, Diesel, find charms that curse people with various types of gluttony. They face off against Diesel's rogue cousin and his delusional Ren Faire sidekick, Sir Hatchelot. 😆 I highly recommend the audio version because the reader is spot on and hilarious with the voices and accents.
I listened to half of this silly, funny fantasy book while doing housework yesterday, and I am here to warn you that it will make you want baked goods. 😆 The main character is a pastry chef, and she is helping track down some cursed objects that cause gluttony. Low fat vegan microwave mug cake to the rescue!

pickMost people know @janetevanovich from her #StephaniePlum series. This is the first in her Lizzy and Diesel series, which focuses on the #sevendeadlysins. I laughed out loud at several points in this book. It was playful and irreverent, proven by my favorite character, Carl. Carl is a middle-finger-waving, pay-per-view-porn-watching, Froot-Loops-eating monkey. Yeah, 🐒.
I don't think I'll read the others, but this was dumb fun.
Ok so I‘m ready to start #24b4Monday! So far, I‘ve forgotten to start my timer TWICE and then after 13 minutes remembered that I should have taken a photo at 0 lol... My work “read” pictured, though I‘m not sure I‘ll stick with it. So far at only 14 minutes in the are 2 hunks named Wolf and Diesel and apparently every girl is naturally slender and athletic looking without trying..? Hope it‘s good for a few laughs at least!
pickIf you‘re looking for something quick and light to read. This is your book. While sometimes really silly, it had some enjoyable characters. Got this at the library book sale for $0.50 and it was worth every penny.

so-soI think I just liked Stephanie Plum more than this and that‘s why I didn‘t love this one. It was cute. I felt like it was a bit forced and over the top in spots.
pickSpent the day doing not much but reading in the nice warm bed. This was a fast fun read. At first I wasn't sure about Diesel and his whole attitude but later he reminded me of a friend who flirts easily when he thinks he is safe from involvement. There was a lot of quick banter and silly moments. Very cute.🧡
so-soIt was OK. Lol I thought the relationship between the two protagonists was a little.. Weird?!?... Sense of humor is decent. Story was interesting but didn't keep me attached very much. I really haven't connected to any of the characters but it is the first in the series so that may change. A plus would be that it's an easy read that I didn't have t think about too much. That Cann also be a negative depending on how u look at it :)

I was greatly entertained by the big cast of characters including a magical baker, the goth counter girl, the monkey who flips everyone off, #Cat7143 who may or may not be a #ninja, and the main couple Lizzie and Diesel. As this is just about one of 7 stones, of course it sets up for a sequel at the end, but also works to stand alone.

pickDiesel is back to stop Wulf again and Lizzy is doing what she can to help. I think Carl is my favorite character in these books. Although I'd like to know how Diesel ended up with him.
