32 posts | 79 read | 11 to read
NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER Iron Druid Atticus OSullivan, hero of Kevin Hearnes epicurban fantasy series, has a point to makeand then drive into a vampires heart. When a Druid has lived for two thousand years like Atticus, hes bound to run afoul of a few vampires. Make that legions of them. Even his former friend and legal counsel turned out to be a bloodsucking backstabber. Now the toothy troublemakersled by power-mad pain-in-the-neck Theophilushave become a huge problem requiring a solution. Its time to make a stand. As always, Atticus wouldnt mind a little backup. But his allies have problems of their own. Ornery archdruid Owen Kennedy is having a wee bit of troll trouble: Turns out when you stiff a troll, its not water under the bridge. Meanwhile, Granuaile is desperate to free herself of the Norse god Lokis mark and elude his powers of divinationa quest that will bring her face-to-face with several Slavic nightmares. As Atticus globetrots to stop his nemesis Theophilus, the journey leads to Rome. What better place to end an immortal than the Eternal City? But poetic justice wont come without a price: In order to defeat Theophilus, Atticus may have to lose an old friend. Praise for Kevin Hearne and The Iron Druid Chronicles [The Iron Druid books] are clever, fast paced and a good escape.Jason Weisberger, Boing Boing Celtic mythology and an ancient Druid with modern attitude mix it up in the Arizona desert in this witty new fantasy series.Kelly Meding, author of Chimera Outrageously fun.The Plain Dealer, on Hounded Superb . . . plenty of quips and zap-pow-bang fighting.Publishers Weekly (starred review), on Hounded Exciting . . . Finished Iron Druid Chronicles #8, it was good and all but I feel like Hearne is growing a bit tired of the series and wants a change, and I do too tbh, thankfully next book is the final. In this one Atticus, Granuaile and Owen go off to deal with vampires, witches and werewolves respectively (also gods, trolls and oil company execs). Was good but I can sense it‘s wrapping itself up. PS no gorgons in book despite my pic, it just felt Iron Druid-y.

So I have some books I got over the years from like dollar stores and such. Well I have those books in a cabinet and I was looking through them and found this one! I just read the 1st book, Hounded, the other day. Now I find I have the 8th book in the series already. Awesome find! I gotta get books 2-7 and 9 now.

Moving on! I finished Shattered today, so it's time to move on to Staked. Then I'll have to switch gears for a while until the release of the final Iron Druid book in April.

josie281 Audiobook is preordered for the final one! I might have to reread before then. My son is currently reading them for the first time and he has already requested to be Atticus for Halloween! 7y

#beastsgiveawaychallenge multiple pov. This book switches between Atticus and Granuaile, and maybe one other? It's not in front of me. One of my top 3 favorite series! So sad that it's ending.

Wow, I loved this book, but I might need to take a day or two before diving into my next read to digest this one. So many happy things along with some serious heartbreak. Whew! I think this is the one that has hit me the hardest in this series! And as always, canine company is best company! 🐶💕

July has been all about the Iron Druid series- this is my 8th book! With 2 jobs, 3 book club's, 1 Hubs, 2 spoiled pets, 3 nieces, and 1 mother with a chronic illness, books are really my way of carving time out for myself. Audiobooks are my favorite escape, bc I tend to listen while I drive- the rare time I'm completely alone. I'm so glad my awesome boss at @FountainBookstore booked Hearne at our store so I could discover this magical series!

Another great installment in the #IronDruid Chronicles. As with the other books in this series, I enjoyed the plot, mythology, and humor. However, I dislike that these books are now written from so many different points of view; Atticus, Granuaile, and Owen are not in the Baby-Sitters Club. 😂

Staked is 📚8 of the Iron Druid series. If you don't know what expect by now, you mightn't have been paying attention, lad! The 3 perspectives is better done here than Hunted, but it's still too much. The Ragnarok arc is developing too slowly, imo. Atticus v. Theophilus was rewarding. Perun 👏🏻. Luke Daniels is excellent, but he's trying to switch voices so fast that he trips on an odd accent. Overall: 4/5. Story: 4/5. Performance: 4/5.

Staked is a great addition to the Iron Druid Chronicles. It wraps up a few things as a next-to-the-last-book in a series should but still leaves some meat on the bone for us to chew in the last installment. The story is told through three POVs, Atticus, Owen and Granuaile just like the previous book, Shattered.

Staked delivered some action, humor and a touch of sadness. Then gives us an ending with hopefulness for the future.

Waiting for my new Kindle e-reader to start Staked, I'm so happy to finally have time to come back to the series ^_^ See you next week, Atticus!

I love this entire series and this is no exception. You sometimes think that 8 books in the spark would be gone but the world is so vast and well constructed that each book has been stand alone fantastic. Oberon is my favorite, but who doesn't love a dog that loves bacon?

Love the Iron Druid series. This one was every bit as good. Love the characters, especially Oberon, and can't wait for the next book.

MrBook I see this series all the time. Maybe I should check it out. Which is the first book? 8y
Weebumpydragon @MrBook the first one is Hounded. They are clever, funny and the dog gets the best lines. Well worth giving it a try. 8y
MrBook Well, if the dog gets the best lines, I've got to check this out 😊👍🏻. 8y

Kevin Hearne does it again! He has hit his stride with all of his characters' voices and Luke Daniels perfectly realizes them in his narration. It was fun to see the characters have adventures on their own, even as I know he's tying up loose ends as he's said the next IDC book is the last. 😢

I have listened to this entire series on Audio and it is fantastic. I love the multiple story lines and the characters. This story picks up where the last book ended and it takes you on a serious adventure. I cannot wait to see what is in store for them next.
