Criss Cross | James Patterson

A killer with all the skills of a master detective has made Alex Cross the subject of his deranged "investigation." In a Virginia penitentiary, Alex Cross and his partner, John Sampson, witness the execution of a killer they helped convict. Hours later, they are called to the scene of a copycat crime. A note signed "M" rests on the corpse. "You messed up big time, Dr. Cross." Was an innocent man just put to death? Alex soon realizes he may have much to answer for, as "M" lures the detective out of the capital to the sites of multiple homicides, all marked with distressingly familiar details -- details that conjure up decades-old cases. Details that conjure up Cross family secrets. Details that make clear that M is after a prize so dear that -- were the killer to attain it -- Alex's heart would no longer have reason to beat.

The only James Patterson books that I read religiously are the Alex Cross series. Somehow I missed the last two books so I‘m going to read this one and the next one to get caught up. Such a great series.

KathyWheeler I used to read every one of these, then something happened in one of them that annoyed me and I quit. I may have to start back. 4y
suvata @KathyWheeler i‘ve been reading them since they came out and I just don‘t want to stop. 4y

Inspired by Sherlock Holmes and Moriarty? At least James Patterson is honest about it. He even has the central character mention the comparison in the text of this novel. A decent who-done-it. A quick read and entertaining. I do love Patterson‘s short chapters. I am surprised a decent movie has been made in the central character, Alex Cross. It seems set up for that.

This is old school Cross like I havent seen in years! This one reminded me of the originals in this series and it was much more enjoyable than the last few. While I could still do with more focus on the murders rather than the children this gives me hope for future Cross books to return to their original form.

I really enjoyed this book, although the theme and content could be a bit disturbing for some people, but James Patterson does such a good job at his books that it‘s hard not to continue reading. The plot and the plot twist was unforeseen but shocking, definitely recommend it to anyone who likes a captivating read and a good mystery

Cfischbuch There‘s a reason he is the richest author in the world... he knows how to entertain and captivate his reading audience. (That and he publishes 7 or 8 adult titles/year. 5y
MrsBabki Haven‘t read this - a title I must add. 5y

Love the Alex Cross series. Love how Patterson balances the detective work part of the series with Alex's personal life part of the story.

The book was amazing with its usual turns and twists, however the end surprised me and I bet you as well. I cannot wait until his next Alex Cross book.

Alex Cross is one of my favourite character. But, in this book, I really, really hate him.
And the enemy continues...

Book 27 in the Alex Cross series and I feel like they're back to their best. A great read - I just love Cross and Sampson and I want my own Nana Mama ❤
