🎧 This book was a complicated wild ride. It‘s a science-fiction thriller. I read it last week.
Set in the near future. Advanced technology & multiple techie implants are common.
Conjoined twins escape a cult, are separated & given mechanical hearts. Ten years later one twin shows up looking guilty of a crime so her twin goes undercover as her to find the truth.
The summary is pretty thorough!
Enjoyed the book!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Just so-so for me, I would give it about 3.5 stars. I did like how the story all came together in the end but like I said, it kinda read like a YA book for some of the time. I definitely wanted to hear more about when they were conjoined (that's the whole reason I wanted to read the book!) and I felt some details were not necessary because they didn't enhance the story or play a part in the ending.
Prosecco, book, knitting, pup. Saturday snowy night. ✅✅✅✅
Is this considered a YA book? I'm enjoying it, but it feels a little YA at times. It might just be that the main character is naive because of the time she spent in the cult
Just downloaded my first ebook from the library, not that I needed more books to read, I just wanted to try it out! I'm a little concerned about the time frame I have to read it in (I'm a slow reader) but this might be a great alternative to buying every book!
What an amazing futuristic thriller featuring a diverse cast of characters & a complex, twisting plot. Taema & Tila are conjoined twins who grew up in a cult. At 16 they escape to the technologically advanced SF &are surgically separated. Fast forward 10yrs, Tila gets involved w/the the local crime syndicate & kills someone. Taema must go undercover to try & absolve her sister. Think Minority Report meets Inception meets Jonestown.

Why did I take so long to get round to reading this? I enjoyed it a lot, especially the effortless diversity and the sense that most of the characters were decent people in a tough position.
Another book featured in the Tor.com column on books featuring sisters. Set in a future-Sam Francisco: about identical twin sisters who become entangled in the criminal underworld. Very good.
#SeasonsReadings2016 #LastBookYouStacked There are always so many good ones I see!
This book sounds so awesome, I just can't wait to read it. I will be starting it once I have finished with 1984, which I am coming to the end of.
Laura Lam's standalone science fiction thriller is an imaginative, slick affair and the central relationship between Tila and Taema is deftly drawn such as to justify the book being a breakout success.
Not usually my genre, but I loved FALSE HEARTS. I need more Laura Lam on my shelves ASAP.
Finally getting some time to read for fun and picked up where I left off in Laura Lam's False Hearts.
