1. Mysteries. I like the more hard boiled detectives stories like Chandler or Hammett.
2. I don't read much horror. Something Red by Douglas Nicholas is about as close as I've gotten lately.

If the reader has patience, the book does pay off. It seemed tedious at first, so much time spend on establishing the time and setting, but it draws you in so by the time the characters are trapped in the Castle with the monster, the book is zooming along. 4 🦊🦊🦊🦊

The wheels were solid disks as high as Hob himself, and the wood was warped a little and wet with the snow now coming down hard and clinging in patchy lumps to the rims.

I am posting one book per day from my extensive to-be-read collection. No description or reason for wanting to read the book. Some are old and some will be new. Don't judge me, I have a lot of books.

Questions: I have these books. I like fantasy but not scary horror. Worth reading? Should I keep them on my list? Have any of you read these?

BookishFeminist I haven't. They look interesting though. Since you're always posting about ARCs are these out yet or not yet? 8y
BethFishReads @BookishFeminist yes three have been published. I don't know if there will be more 8y
Dogearedcopy I'm absolutely no help at all; but I am intrigued enough to put it on my TBR list! 8y

BeckyLeJ I've read them all, it's a great series! I don't consider them that scary, but it has been a while so I'm not sure how gory they are if that bothers you. 8y
BethFishReads @BeckyLeJ thanks! Gore is ok, but I don't like horror. I will keep the books and make sure I get to the@ 8y
PatriciaU This is one of my new favorite series. The horror is in small doses and mostly at the end. The monsters all have some nod to folklore and mythology, which I like very much. However, it is the characters that keep me coming back to these stories. Maeve, Jack, Niall, and Hob are wonderful and I've enjoyed getting to know them better throughout the series. I recommend them frequently. 8y
PatriciaU @Dogearedcopy maybe I'll tuck something extra into your next @LitsyGoesPostal package! 8y
BethFishReads @PatriciaU ooooohhhh thanks so much. Now I know I was right to buy these books. Next problem? Making time to read them. I bet I love the series too. (Treats! Woot!) 8y

Not an easy read because of the language used. Started out slow but found myself wanting to dive back in. Lots of details about the journey of a foursome, wished there were more details about the Beast; those were my favorite parts. Once you find out what the beast is, the book goes very fast.
