The More or Less Definitive Guide to Self-Care
The More or Less Definitive Guide to Self-Care | Anna Borges
9 posts | 6 read | 1 reading | 7 to read
The go-to guide for self-carean A to Z, mental healthcentric handbook from asking for help to catching some zzzs Self-care is everywherebut sound-bites on this trendy subject tend to focus more on face masks and bubble baths than on its key objective: mental health. Now, top health writer Anna Borges is here to fix that in The More or Less Definitive Guide to Self-Care. Formerly at BuzzFeed, Borges helped popularize the self-care movement in the first place, and her book distills the self-care internet into an A to Z list with over 200 entriesfrom soul-searching prompts to simple pick-me-ups. Readers can tailor their own routines by choosing among Borgess strategies, which cover four distinctive realms of self-care: physical, mental, social, and spiritual. Drawing on real-world experience (her own and others) as well as expert advice, Borges empowers readers to take charge of their well-being. This beautifully illustrated guide is a one-stop shop for mind, body, and soul.

Divided into tiny alphabetical chunks and personal stories, this book is easy to pick up and put down based on the needs of the reader. The author is affirming of the difficulties some people struggle with and has created this no nonsense guide to help. It's not a book I'd read again or study in depth but I'd recommend it to anyone who needs the occasional reminder to look after themselves.

Saturday morning wisdom.

Is 11am too early for a nap!

wanderinglynn Excellent advice! 👍🏻 And no, 11 is not too early for napping. I think between 11 & 2 is prime nap time. You don‘t want to nap much later than 2 because that can screw up your sleep time. 😉 4y
Texreader Not too early. I‘m heading for a nap too 4y
DHill Love this! Now off to nap. 😊 4y

I bought myself a present. I haven‘t had a chance to look at it yet, but I‘m hoping it‘s good. It has been a week! All of the normal stress, plus the toilet paper and the cancellations. It‘s hard not to worry when even the Prime Minister is in isolation.

readordierachel That seems like the perfect book for the current moment 4y

hello everyone -
I haven't posted in a while because I just moved across the country earlier this month (from Toronto to Vancouver). I've slowly been getting settled in & acquiring more furniture, so I thought it would be a good idea to try out a new coffee shop so I could get some reading done today 📖☕

Megabooks I hope your move went smoothly! Welcome back! 4y
Sace Glad you're back! 👋 4y
